Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Blender crashes when the user selects cycles as the viewport renderer on loading the scene provided

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Load the scene simple_planes_front.blend
Select viewport shading "display render preview" by click the icon in the top right hand corner
Program crashes

Using a debug version of blender this for me has a 100% reproduction rate currently. Below follows some debug is available at P2494.

The revision d18c97300195 does not exist in our git repository, so I am not sure what build you're using.

I did recently fix issues related to this, so make sure you have it.

Doh! that is true but it is only the scrambling patch. It would not affect this :-). One second and I'll try on master

Yep it happens on the master :-( I updated the information. Do you think the patch from D12767 could cause it? I submitted it earlier today :-(

Yep it looks like our fix was the culprit but this only causes a crash in debug mode as well :-(

The description refers to 3021babf38 commit hash. My fixes were done after that. So please do ensure you have fixes from f71d479556.
