System Information
Operating system: macOS-10.15.7-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000 OpenGL Engine Intel Inc. 4.1 INTEL-14.7.20
Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.5, branch: master, commit date: 2021-10-05 12:04, hash:
a791bdabd0
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
[When i try to enter the viewport shading view, the app closes itself. This happens with new and old files]
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
[I open the app, then try to work on an old file and then it closes. If i try to do a new file, everything is fine until i select "viewport shading"]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

Hi, thanks for the report. Please attach crash logs: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/crash.html#macos
Probably similar to #92090 (macOS Catalina 10.15.7: Eevee crash with Intel HD 4000)
@ankitm , could you please check this?
similar reports has been reported recently on tracker:
I neither have the GPU nor the macOS version. Mojave and Big Sur work fine for me.

Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Needs User Info'
Intel HD Graphics 4000
is an older integrated GPU that is no longer maintained by Intel and, as it was released over 10 years ago, it is no longer officially supported by Blender. If the computer has a discrete GPU, this is the one recommended for use (instead of the integrated).
I found this link that can help in this case:
https://www.tweaking4all.com/os-tips-and-tricks/macosx-tips-and-tricks/macbook-pro-switch-video-chip-at-will/
Installing the latest graphics driver sometimes helps to make such GPUs work, see here for more information. https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html
If that doesn't help, you can use Blender 2.79: https://www.blender.org/download/previous-versions/
