Hi, thanks for the report. Steps has been changed recently to use Knife project: blender/documentation#90656 (Knife Project Not Working)

This has been confusing for many, benefit is that is works better for multi-object editing now.
Not a bug though (but of course feel free to comment again if issues persist)

Ah, sorry, didn't see Pratik's comment. Just read the manual...yep I see how it's changed now. Perhaps in cases like this where a long standing operator's usage has changed, there should be a note in the tooltip such as 'new usage instructions - see manual'
Perhaps even have a little notification symbol on the operator name and icon to indicate the user should read the tooltip for updates, and then hide the symbol permanently after the tooltip has opened once.
