Align Rotation to Euler bug when toggling Edit Mode -> Object Mode #94111

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: RTX 2070 Super (x2)

Blender Version
Broken: 3.1.0 Alpha, 56ff954030, master, 2021-12-02 18:49
Worked: 3.0 Beta (?)

Short description of error
Wall breaks apart, at random locations and with random look, for each toggle of Edit Mode -> Object Mode.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

With provided file: simple_example.blend

  1. Select NurbsPath object
  2. Toggle Edit Mode -> Object Mode

Additional info: The object on which the issue is present is a Path object, with some options toggled on it, like Toggle Cyclic (and maybe a Smooth on all points, but can't remember)
The other one on the right is a Curve Circle, with the same GN setup applied on it.

Also worth mentioning that I tried to see if this happens with Blender 3.0 (opened the same file and changed "Compare" node to "Compare Floats") and it seems that the Capture Attribute is not working for the Curve Tangent, so couldn't confirm when this "worked".

While further developing this wall setup, I've come across this extra detail: adding a Resample Curve at the beginning of the node tree removes the issue.

Found out it might be caused by Align Euler to Vector node. When setting Pivot point from "Auto" to "Z", the issue is less pronounced, BUT there are still some slight rotation shifts on the instances.

Most definitely it's the Align Euler to Vector. Updated with a simpler example file.
