Blender 3.0 crashes when motion tracking hits prefetch limit #94312

System Information
This crash happens on both Ubuntu 21.10 and Windows 10. My graphics card is an AMD Radeon RX 580, but Blender 3.0 doesn't recognize it so it's using the CPU.

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 3.0 release version
Worked: 2.93 LTS works fine

Short description of error
When I have a video clip that's too long for prefetch to load, and I track markers, when they hit the first non-prefetched claim Blender unceremoniously closes.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Load a clip that's too much for Blender to hold in memory (either load a large clip or lower the Memory Cache Limit in System preferences to something low)
  2. Select Set Scene Frames and hit Prefetch. Prefetch will go to a certain frame and stops
  3. Set a bunch of tracking markers
  4. Track the markers forward for the entire clip
  5. When it hits the first un-prefetched frame, Blender closes out

I'm including a blender.crash.txt file created in debug mode on Linux. blender.crash.txt

Can you quickly check to see if 3.1 has the same issue? A fix for something very similar was done earlier this month to that version: https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

I have the same problem, but in version 3.1 everything works fine. We are waiting for the official update! Thanks!

Thx reporting, it is indeed fixed, same thing came up before, see #93935 (Blender 3.0 Motion tracking footage just crashes blender), on the list #93479 (3.0 Potential candidates for corrective releases), will merge reports

Hi, anyone know if this will be in a stable release soon? I checked above for the potential fixes for 3.0.1 but I don't see this in the actual list of fixes.

The fixes are 7061d1e39f / e8a8bb67fc
No decision yet on the corrective release (will raise this in the next meeting next year)
