Proposal: disable object mode selection cycling on first click #96752

Object mode selection always selects the other object (besides the active selected) when picking the selected object with the mouse cursor.

This has the disadvantage that for overlapping objects you can't click & drag the selected object to move it - as it will first select the object behind it.

Although it does have the advantage that you don't have to click (keeping the cursor still) to cycle through all objects under the cursor.

If this behavior is removed, cycling through objects under the cursor is still possible, it will just take one extra click.

This is available as an experimental preference: Object Select Nearest on First Click 24c30e001f

This possibility was discussed with @JulienKaspar - as a change to try.

I tested this for a while and am very happy with the change. It finally enables the user to deselect an object by simply clicking on it instead of relying on box select or the outliner to deselect.
It does make it a bit slower to select overlapping objects since it requires one extra click & a still cursor to start cycling but I believe that's a minor downside compared to the advantage this creates.
I think we can now move this out of experimental.

Let's have the other artists at the Studio use this for some days too, say a week. That's the kind of thing experimental features are there for, and then we know better if this may end up being controversial.

According @JulienKaspar artists in the studio didn't find this behavior to cause problems, removed this behavior, closing.
