Short description of error
While GPU subdivision enabled, subdivision modifier shows artifacts in edit mode.

Steps to reproduce

  • Open Blender.
  • Add material slot for default cube.
  • In edit mode, assign second material slot at least one mesh.
  • Add mirror modifier on the cube, then subdiv.

Details
This issue happen when conditions below are met:

  • GPU subdivision is enabled.
  • Mirror modifier is in the first stack of modifiers, Subdiv is in the second.
  • 'Display modifier in edit mode' enabled. (default)
  • Two or more materials are assigned.

Workaround:

  • Move subdivision modifier to the first position in the modifier property.
  • Disable GPU Subdivision.
