is enabled in the preferencesCol
Color
socket toBase Color
Color gets destroyed (thats the sculpt vcolor and normal vcolor)
You can swap the shader attribute to "vert" to test the vertex color or back to "sculpt" to test sculpt vertex color.

Just wanted to add that this happens in 3.1.1 rc aswell
Oh and its fine if you use the multires modifier instead.

I've fixed this in the sculpt vertex colors patch, don't spend too much time trying to fix it in master.

@JosephEagar Is your fix portable to master though? It would still be nice to have this fixed even if sculpt vertex colors are still experimental.
