System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19043 64 Bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090/ NVIDIA 512.95

Blender Version
Broken: in 3.2 has a black spot in the sun on reflective surface
Worked: in 3.1 and in 3.2 with OptiX Denoise

Sorry for my English language :)

Short description of error
When you render scene with a reflective surface and a sun in 3.2 you will get black spot in sun reflection

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create a scene in 3.2 Blender
  2. Delete default cube :)
  3. Delete light
  4. Create a sphere
  5. Shade smooth the sphere
  6. Create a Principled BSDF material (on Sphere)
  7. Set Metallic to 1
  8. Set Roughness to 0.02
  9. Create Sun light
  10. Set Strength of the Sun to 10000
  11. Set the Angle of the sun to 15°
  12. Turn off Denoise
  13. Press Render (That's all)

It has to do with Filmic. In 3.2, both Filmic and Filmic Log get the black spot. In 3.1, only Filmic Log gets the black spot.

Hi, thanks for the report. I'm not able to reproduce this in 3.2 release version.
Are you rendering with CPU or GPU? Your render device is set to CUDA or Optix?

Operating system : Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card : AMD Radeon(TM) 535 ATI Technologies .```

I'm rendering on GPU.
My render device is set to OptiX.

I also tried it with Cuda GPU; Cuda CPU and Optix CPU and the problem still exists.

I found a strange thing:
If I save a rendered image with a black spot a spot disappears.
So it only shows in Render window

That's how it looks (I screenshotted Render window):

FYI, here on:

Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19043-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 512.96

Blender version: 3.2.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-06-08 10:22, hash: e05e1e3691

Opening the provided test file I don't see any black spots in the Viewport. Rendering either with CPU or GPU with CUDA or OPTIX option enabled.

I can confirm. Any value over 65536 is displayed as Black.

It seems to be a display only bug, the values are stored in the color channels (can be sampled with the mouse) and properly exported when saving as an OpenEXR file.

In 3.3 I can get it with Filmic, Filmic Log, and False Color Views. I can also get it with the Standard View if I set a Look.
In 3.1.2 I can only get it with Filmic Log, same as @Fernando-Alcala

@Leftunderatree you can clamp Direct Light as a workaround for now.
