Blender crashes using while HIP in Blender 3.2 [GPU: AMD RX 5600XT] #98900

System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.13.0-48-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.31 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.14800 Core Profile Context 22.10

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.2.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-06-08 10:22, hash: e05e1e3691
Worked: version: 2.93.9 (When it did not have HIP)

Short description of error
Blender crashes when I'm in rendered mode and I try to add an environment texture. Like as soon as I click on the "Environment Texture" button, it crashes immediately. This might already be a known issue but I'm not very sure.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
As soon as I click on "World Properties" >> select the yellow dot near the label "Color">> select "Environment Texture" >> Boom, Crash. Scene is very simple with just the default cube and a plane under it. No materials added yet. BTW, I was on rendered mode.

Extra Info
I downloaded the Blender 3.2 splashscreen blend file to test. But it crashed immediately when I switched to Rendered View. And I think any sort of textures are the main reason behind all these crashes. Thank you!

*Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention that I was using Cycles render engine.

There have been reports of issues with the RX 5000 series of GPUs with HIP on Linux when using textures. There is a short discussion of the issue here: https://devtalk.blender.org/t/cycles-amd-hip-device-feedback/21400/316
From the sounds of it, the issue appears to be primarily a driver issues and is currently being investigated and will probably be fixed in a future driver release.

However, I'm not sure if this issue is the same as the issue you are experiencing.

I hope I am replying to your comment correctly because this is my first time using this platform haha. Anyway, I had a feeling that it might not actually be Blender's fault but rather AMD's drivers. Now, it seems that this is most likely the case. I guess I will just have to wait for the new drivers and then hopefully I can use HIP without crashing. I'm feeling this way because even on my Windows 10, I do get "Driver Timeouts" somewhat frequently on large scenes. I guess I should get an Nvidia GPU soon for more stability... These "Driver Timeout" popups really are frustrating.

Thank you for your help!

Hi, your crash report appears to be duplicate of #97591 (Cycles HIP error with image textures on Linux and RDNA1)
Closing this for now. Don't hesitate to comment if they are different
