So I don't think it can be due to those changes.

Then you are right, this change was done later.
I'll do the bisect if you guys don't have a quick fix for this :)
Fixing this crash is also important for corrective release I think
I tried to bisect but caught with build errors in intermediates builds
(I've mentioned the good and bad commit in the task description if anyone wants)
Sorry, I did not see this before. Even though it was not introduced by my patch, I think we can use the new fcurves only filter to solve this.
