System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 512.15

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.2.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-06-08 10:22, hash: e05e1e3691
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
This is a silly one.

In Blender you can assign any number of Vertex Color groups to an object. You can then paint each of these groups as you wish. When you have multiple Vertex Color groups in one object, you can view and modify a singular Vertex Color group by clicking on it in the Color Atributes panel.

However, only the first eight groups in this list will be visible in the viewport when selected active, and any group beyond the eight one will not be shown in the viewport, even if you selected it. You can, however, still add more groups to the list and even paint on them, but they will not show up in the viewport, making editing these groups effectively impossible. If you delete groups before the one you have selected, so that the selected group will become the 8th group (at most), only then will it be visible in the viewport.

Also, while you are at it, could you please add the small arrow buttons to Color Atributes list as well so that the user can sort it to their liking. Thanks!

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create an object
  2. Create 9 or more Vertex Color groups for this object
  3. Select any of the first 8 groups and you should see change in the viewport, and you should be able to paint to it in realtime
  4. Now select the 9th (or any later) group and you should notice that the viewport does not update to show the 9th group colors

See the attached blend-file with 9 Color Groups.
