Hi, I like to report a minor issue and ask a favor in a report I've done.

By some reason, Blender let the user select a second object while a object is in edit mode. In this scenario, when the user try to use the F2 extension under this circunstancies forces Blender to put the second select object in edit mode, this is painful with re-topology.

First of all, enable F2 extension.

  1. Create a new scene or use the current one.
  2. Add 1 or 2 subdivisions to a object or a mesh itself, if a modifier like subdivision is used, apply it first.
  3. In object mode, duplicate the object and move it a little bit away from the original position, it doesn't mater if objects or meshes are overlapping or not.
  4. Select one of them and enter edit mode
  5. Hold CTRL and click in the other object, this will "print" a selected overlay in the object outside edit mode
  6. Delete some vertices from the mesh to crate a hole.
  7. Select one corner vertex in the hole and press F to create a face, this should force the second object to enter edit mode to.

If you can comment something in the bug report I'll be appreciated.
