Upon clicking on notifications button, If I click to open a notification from the list, it should be automatically marked as read.

Thanks for the report. This current behaviour is by design (the site is working as expected).

Thanks for check-in Dalai. What? Why such a design choice was made. It is unanamous thing in almost every notification based system that if a notification is opened, it will be automatically marked as Read. So currently if there are 50 notifications, the Dev has to mark one by one all as read, am I wrong?

There's a "Mark All as Read" button, so there's no need to do that one by one, no.

Why such a design choice was made?

So that people can manage their reports themselves, and decided which ones are addressed, and which ones are still pending and need further attention.
