Macbook Pro Apple M2 Max (last version of iOS)
Operating System(s):
Flamenco Version 3.3 work perfectly !
Error performing BAT pack when submitting to render.
Use on shading mode the "noise texture node" on an object or a "brick texture node" on a light.
Try to submit it will prompt an error message. To avoid this issue, remove the node in blender (noise or brick) submit the render, cancel the job in flamenco. Then add back the node in blender (noise or brick) and submit again, it works !
That's good to know, but which version of Flamenco is giving you the troubles?
Please attach a simple blend file that can be used to reproduce the issue.
I use Flamenco 3.
Below, a file with the issue, curious to get your feedback :)
Sorry to be blunt, but that could be 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, or the recently released 3.3.1.
Thanks.
Hi, it's 3.3.
@vincent-10 since you closed this issue, does that mean that you re-tested with 3.3.1 and there the issue was fixed?
Oh no, missclick from me, sorry my bad :/
I cannot reproduce this issue when trying to submit the example blend file.
Please re-test with Flamenco 3.3.1, and provide a test file and exact steps to reproduce the issue.
Please check again with Flamenco v3.4, because I think this issue has been fixed in that version.
If that still gives you the error, please run Blender from the commandline to see the full error stack trace, and copy-paste it here.
Hi,
I'm getting Error performing BAT pack as well from a macbook. Works well with sending from Windows.
Using Flamenco v3.4
I've done some tests and it seems to work if the input + output path is not to long.
Could that be the case for the errors? Is there a limitation to max amount of characters
When total path is 238 characters it gives error, but If I move the project file so total path is shorter, like 210 characters it works.
Could that be a parameter on my side ?
Thanks in advance
Please also follow this:
Without that information, there is little I can do except go "ah, so it doesn't work".
That's hard to say without knowing the exact error. It certainly could be.
A Quick update on error message. I’ve tried running blender from terminal but don’t have access to the log now. But here is the error message from within blender.
Error performing BAT pack: Error transferring /Users/andreas.hall/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive-CEVT/Assets/Blender/testrender_flamenco4.flamenco.blend to /Volumes/gd/Lynk&Co/SERVICES/Flamenco/input_renders/2024-01-19-144056.881984-testrender_flamenco4/testrender_flamenco4.flamenco.blend
The error can be resolved by saving the blender project higher up in the folder structure to shorten the path.
I have a similar path length in windows were the error don’t occur.
I can update on Monday when I’m back at the office.
Here is the log. Hope it can enlighten some on why it fails.
Works if I shorten the path
It's your operating system saying "no" to this. Since you already played with the filename length, it's quite likely that this is indeed the limiting factor here. What filesystem are you using?
It's a mixed system,
Windows and Mac clients with flamenco input/output on a NAS.
Run by Windows server with applicable filesystem and Macs connect through smb.
Clients have no problem accessing the file area for input/output or creating files/directories.
I recollect path issues on Windows before when exceeding the length of 255 characters,
but this time the filepaths are of similar length when sending from a Windows client and there have not been any issues.
I've conducted some more testing and it's likely it's not length of folders but restrictions or permissions managed by Onedrive on Mac.
Strangely enough, this works from Onedrive folder in Windows.
This folder is generating error as before.
/Users/andreas.hall/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive-CEVT/Assets/Blender/testrender_flamenco3.flamenco.blend
And this folder works just fine.
/Users/andreas.hall/Downloads/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder/New Folder//testrender_flamenco3.flamenco.blend
In all cases I've noticed the package gets transfered to the in directory but fail to start if error have occured.
So the problem is defiantly on my end but can be good to know if other encounters it.
So far there was no mention of using cloud storage; using an asynchrously synchronising storage considerably changes the situation. Please read the FAQ entry on this topic.
Thanks for coming back with more info about this, it's appreciated. Since this is not an issue with Flamenco itself, I'll close this report.
