Thanks to all who provided support! I can confirm that with 4.0 Alpha the issue has been resolved. I am able to render the the 100 frame sequence on two separate Apple Silicon machines without fail.

I have the same configuration and the identical problem when using Cycles... will try turning off the Metal backend to see if it is a temp by pass.
