edfe78aec9 Context operators for adjusting context values directly to avoid adding operators for adjusting single values which also need duplicate notifiers.
wm.context_set(path="scene.tool_settings.someattr", somevalue)
wm.context_toggle(path="scene.tool_settings.somebool")
wm.context_toggle_values(path="scene.tool_settings.some_enum", value_1="somevalue", value_2="othervalue") # switch between 2 values
wm.context_cycle_enum(path="scene.tool_settings.some_enum", reverse=False)

the path value is taken from the context so the full path is 
context.scene.tool_settings...

This means in keymaps you can cycle draw modes, change PET- anything with rna access.
If its not so nice to map keys to operators like wm.context_set we could use macro's to wrap it and have its own name

Use this for PET and setting pivot options

- Made userpref key shortcut Ctrl+Alt+U since its not used in 2.4x
- added pivot_point_align (Alt+Comma)
- added PET wasnt rna wrapped correctly.

e36003e8e7 macro's can set options for the operators they execute
changed extrude, rip and duplicate to disable proportional editing however this gives a different problem now.
Commented in transform.c
 // XXX If modal, save settings back in scene

this changes disables the option whenever the macro used used.

a3f6b0ed00 - add torus back from 2.4x as an operator
bpy.ops.mesh.primitive_torus_add(major_radius=1, minor_radius=0.25, major_segments=48, minor_segments=16)

- experemental dynamic menus, used for INFO_MT_file, INFO_MT_file_import, INFO_MT_file_export and INFO_MT_mesh_add. these can have items added from python.
eg.

- removed OBJECT_OT_mesh_add, use the python add menu instead.

- made mesh primitive ops -  MESH_OT_primitive_plane_add, ...cube_add, etc. work in object mode.

- RNA scene.active_object wrapped

- bugfix [#19466] 2.5: Tweak menu only available for mesh objects added within Edit Mode
  ED_object_exit_editmode was always doing an undo push, made this optional using the existing flag - EM_DO_UNDO, called everywhere except when adding primitives.

3ebd58673f Key Configuration
Keymaps are now saveable and configurable from the user preferences, note
that editing one item in a keymap means the whole keymap is now defined by
the user and will not be updated by Blender, an option for syncing might be
added later. The outliner interface is still there, but I will probably
remove it.

There's actually 3 levels now:

* Default builtin key configuration.
* Key configuration loaded from .py file, for configs like Blender 2.4x
  or other 3D applications.
* Keymaps edited by the user and saved in .B.blend. These can be saved
  to .py files as well to make creating distributable configurations
  easier.

Also, user preferences sections were reorganized a bit, now there is:
Interface, Editing, Input, Files and System.


Implementation notes:
* wmKeyConfig was added which represents a key configuration containing
  keymaps.
* wmKeymapItem was renamed to wmKeyMapItem for consistency with wmKeyMap.
* Modal maps are not wrapped yet.
* User preferences DNA file reading did not support newdataadr() yet,
  added this now for reading keymaps.
* Key configuration related settings are now RNA wrapped.
* is_property_set and is_property_hidden python methods were added.

bff893a420 Unified effector functionality for particles, cloth and softbody
* Unified scene wide gravity (currently in scene buttons) 
  instead of each simulation having it's own gravity.
* Weight parameters for all effectors and an effector group 
  setting.
* Every effector can use noise.
* Most effectors have "shapes" point, plane, surface, every point.
	- "Point" is most like the old effectors and uses the 
	  effector location as the effector point.
	- "Plane" uses the closest point on effectors local xy-plane 
	  as the effector point.
	- "Surface" uses the closest point on an effector object's 
	  surface as the effector point.
	- "Every Point" uses every point in a mesh effector object 
	  as an effector point.
	- The falloff is calculated from this point, so for example 
	  with "surface" shape and "use only negative z axis" it's 
	  possible to apply force only "inside" the effector object.
* Spherical effector is now renamed as "force" as it's no longer 
  just spherical.
* New effector parameter "flow", which makes the effector act as 
  surrounding air velocity, so the resulting force is 
  proportional to the velocity difference of the point and "air 
  velocity". For example a wind field with flow=1.0 results in 
  proper non-accelerating wind.
* New effector fields "turbulence", which creates nice random 
  flow paths, and "drag", which slows the points down.
* Much improved vortex field.
* Effectors can now effect particle rotation as well as location.
* Use full, or only positive/negative z-axis to apply force 
  (note. the z-axis is the surface normal in the case of 
  effector shape "surface")
* New "force field" submenu in add menu, which adds an empty 
  with the chosen effector (curve object for corve guides).
* Other dynamics should be quite easy to add to the effector 
  system too if wanted.
* "Unified" doesn't mean that force fields give the exact same results for 
  particles, softbody & cloth, since their final effect depends on many external 
  factors, like for example the surface area of the effected faces.

Code changes
* Subversion bump for correct handling of global gravity.
* Separate ui py file for common dynamics stuff.
* Particle settings updating is flushed with it's id through 
  DAG_id_flush_update(..).
  
Known issues
* Curve guides don't yet have all ui buttons in place, but they 
  should work none the less.
* Hair dynamics don't yet respect force fields.

Other changes
* Particle emission defaults now to frames 1-200 with life of 50 
  frames to fill the whole default timeline.
* Many particles drawing related crashes fixed.
* Sometimes particles didn't update on first frame properly.
* Hair with object/group visualization didn't work properly.
* Memory leaks with PointCacheID lists (Genscher, remember to 
  free pidlists after use :).

15d07720e5 Sorry, three commits in one, became difficult to untangle..
Editors Modules

* render/ module added in editors, moved the preview render code there and
  also shading related operators.
* physics/ module made more consistent with other modules. renaming files,
  making a single physics_ops.c for operators and keymaps. Also move all
  particle related operators here now.
* space_buttons/ now should have only operators relevant to the buttons
  specificially.

Updates & Notifiers

* Material/Texture/World/Lamp can now be passed to DAG_id_flush_update,
  which will go back to a callback in editors. Eventually these should
  be in the depsgraph itself, but for now this gives a unified call for
  doing updates.
* GLSL materials are now refreshed on changes. There's still various
  cases missing, 
* Preview icons now hook into this system, solving various update cases
  that were missed before.
* Also fixes issue in my last commit, where some preview would not render,
  problem is avoided in the new system.

Icon Rendering

* On systems with support for non-power of two textures, an OpenGL texture
  is now used instead of glDrawPixels. This avoids problems with icons get
  clipped on region borders. On my Linux desktop, this gives an 1.1x speedup,
  and on my Mac laptop a 2.3x speedup overall in redrawing the full window,
  with the default setup. The glDrawPixels implementation on Mac seems to
  have a lot of overhread.
* Preview icons are now drawn using proper premul alpha, and never faded so
  you can see them clearly.
* Also tried to fix issue with texture node preview rendering, globals can't
  be used with threads reliably.

7ead925ce4 - removed View3D->localview since it wasnt set on entering localview (making many tools fail, add objects for eg.), check localvd instead.
- Accent (`) key now sets all layers (like in 2.4x)
- added Alt+C keybinding for converting object types.

69e919530e Keymaps now have a poll() function, rather than adding/removing
their handlers based on notifiers, which is simpler and more
reliable.

This fixes for example editmode or uv edit keymaps not working
when creating a new 3dview or image space.

51f1e82290 Object mode Selection options brought back for view3d.select
- 'center', while Ctrl is held select objects from their center location
- 'enumerate', while Alt is held, give a list of objects under the mouse
- Object selection menu now uses icons with names
- operator object.select_name(name, extend=False)
- keybindings so combinations of Ctrl/Alt/Shift can be used (like in 2.4x)
- logic text input field was using deprecated ID_SCRIPT rather then ID_TXT

details
- added comments to DNA_ID.h ID types
- removed unused ID types Sector and Life
- added uiIconFromID() to get an icon from the object.
- using name for selection is weak but currently there isnt a really good way to do this.

e6b5a2e99e UI tweaks
*Cleaned up Transform panel in n-key area. It's now single column so that this view can be nice and slim, while you can still access everything. 
This is especially important in edit mode where you cannot change the transform values numerically from the Properties. 
Transform properties don't seem to work for Metaball edit yet, so wasn't able to test this

*Removed some lingering tools in curve transform and put them in the toolbar instead.

*Improved alignment in toolbar

*Made Image Properties use regular checkmark toggle buttons

*Added Delete as an alternative to X key, as it was in 2.4x

cfb6f35f9f UI:
* layout.itemR now has icon_only option to show only icon
  in e.g. enums buttons, for uv editor header.
* Automatic key shortcuts in menus now show the shortcut even if
  operator properties don't match. Not sure this will work well
  everywhere, but seems to be working ok for now.
* Open recent now show shorter filenames instead of the whole
  file path.
* Tweak object Duplicate menu item.

3daa283604 2.5: Object module
* Split object_edit.c into multiple files:
  object_add.c, object_edit.c, object_hook.c, object_relations.c,
  object_select.c, object_transform.c.
* Rename files to have consistent object_ and mball_ prefix:
  object_shapekey.c, object_lattice.c, object_vgroup.c, mball_edit.c.
* Added operators:
  * vertex group menu and set active
  * apply location, rotation, scale, visual transform (location is new)
  * make local
  * make vertex parent
  * move to layer
  * convert to curve/mesh (not finished yet)
* Many small fixes for marked issues, but still much code to be cleaned
  up here...

c97d964064 - Add remove game properties now possible from the logic space properties panel.
- PyDebugLine, utility function to run if the BGE crashes, you can see which python file and line called the C/C++ code.

98272a0138 2.5 - Code shuffling
Moved WeightPaint/VertexPaint toggling hotkeys to the same place that the ones for PoseMode/EditMode are defined. This means that the hotkey for toggling PoseMode works again (instead of being overwritten by WeightPaint).

1be67b60fd 2.5: Modifiers & Menus
* Popup menus now remember the last clicked item again.
* Modifier and File Format menus are now organized in multiple
  columns with categories.
* Hook, explode, uv project modifiers have all their buttons
  again with the relevant operators implemented.
* Modifiers that can't be added by the user, or don't work on
  curves for example, are not in the menu anymore.
* Fix search menu overlapping buttons when near the bottom of
  the screen.
* Fix uv layers search menu not working in some modifiers.
* Cleanup popup menu code a bit, layout engine is used in more
  cases now instead of ugly position calculation code.

d86663ee1a 2.5/Modes:
* Added OBJECT_OT_mode_set for setting the object mode. Takes one property, "mode", which can be any of the OB_MODE_* flags. The available modes are limited based on the active object (e.g. only meshes can have sculptmode, and so forth.)
* Set the icon properties in the object mode enum RNA

TODO:
At this point I think everything is ready to start ripping out the ugly hacks in view3d_header for setting the mode :)

Operator goodies!

--- Macro operators

Operators now can consist of multiple operators. Such a macro operator
is identical and behaves identical to other opererators. Macros can
also be constructed of macros even! Currently only hardcoded macros are
implemented, this to solve combined operators such as 'add duplicate' or
'extrude' (both want a transform appended).

Usage is simple:
- WM_operatortype_append_macro() : add new operatortype, name, flags
- WM_operatortype_macro_define() : add existing operator to macro

(Note: macro_define will also allow properties to be set, doesnt work
 right now)

On converting the macro wmOperatorType to a real operator, it makes a
list of all operators, and the standard macro callbacks (exec, invoke,
modal, poll) just will use all.

Important note; switching to a modal operator only works as last in the
chain now!

Macros implemented for duplicate, extrude and rip. Tool menu works fine
for it, also the redo hotkey F4 works properly.

--- Operator redo fix

The operators use the undo system to switch back, but this could give
errors if other actions added undo pushes (buttons, outliner). Now the
redo for operator searches back for the correct undo level.

This fixes issues with many redos.

Note for brecht: removed the ED_undo_push for buttons... it was called
on *every* button now, which is probably too much? For example, using
the 'toolbar' redo also caused this...

f75005c2a8 2.5 MetaBalls
- It is possible to work with MetaBalls in edit mode now
 - Added basic UI to the button window (feel free to change it :-))
 - Header menus should work
 - Undo & redo should work
 - Removed global variable editelems and lastelem (moved it to the MetaBall struct)
 - All tools from old editmball.c was converted to the operators
 - Added lastelem to the RNA
 - Experimental: mb->editelems is only pointer at mb->elems or NULL (depends on Mode). ListBase of MetaElems is not duplicated in edit mode.

Tested with scons at Linux and mac OS X

TODO:
 - Recalc data after Undo or Redo
 - Solve issue with basic MetaBall and Python UI script (only base MetaBall object influence Wiresize and Threshold)
 - Fix orientation of manipulator in "Normal mode"

8584507671 2.5 - Start of Make Proxy Operator
The code has been ported to the operator+rna system, however, there are currently issues related to how the pointer-rna's work for use as operator properties. (NOTE: RNA_property_pointer_set only takes into account builtin props for now, but not id-props, while the corresponding get method seems to take them into account)

The alternative to using pointer-properties for the operator, is to store strings and look up the relevant objects later, but there should be a nicer way...

Outliner: brought back to near full functioning:

- proper operators, like for open/close items, exec operations
  (note: select is still same operator as activate, should
   become modal ops later)
- rename works again (ctrl+click)
- proper notifiers for redraws
- select / extend select works again
- editmode in/out works again
- enter key opens/closes again
- right mouse operations work again

Didn't do:
- options for Sequence strips
- signals to change button views on clicks
- error/warning messages

UI: 

- added new uiButSetRenameFunc(), which passes on the old name
- added uiButActiveOnly(), which ensures a button gets created in
  active state, and gets removed when used. Needed for editing
  names in outliner.
  
  Andrea: check outliner.c for uiButActiveOnly(), very easy to use!

Also:

- Added posemode operator, CTRL+TAB tied to it.

* Add/Remove IK now works again using Shift-I and Ctrl-Alt-I as before. The code for this is now located in editconstraint.c for now...

* Adding constraints with automatically added targets works again. It's a relief that the old code still works (with a minor tweak)

cc69f13013 2.5 - Constraints Editing + Keyframe Drawing Tweaks
Constraints:
* Adding constraints with targets should now work. 
-- (When no target is provided, the code to create a new target is not yet in place again yet)
* Constraints can be added in Object and PoseModes again using the Ctrl-Shift-C hotkey. 
* All constraints can now be cleared from the active Object or selected Bones using the Ctrl-Alt-C hotkey.
* Added warnings when adding constraints invalid for the current context, and removed the old add_constraint() function.
* Buttons window updates correctly after adding keyframes now

Keyframes Drawing:
* Removed un-necessary extra function-call for RB-Tree implementation, by inlining a special one-off case.
* Keyframe diamonds which are not within the viewable area are now not drawn (but filtering will still need to find them).

8efdb04817 2.5 - Recode of Add Constraint Operator(s)
Add Constraint operators are now based on the old add_constraint() function (to be removed when the new code works well). 
- Fixed a few bugs with the code, including depsgraph missing rebuild call, and unique-naming for constraints failing due to wrong order for adding constraint to list
- Added capabilities for setting the target of the constraint to the first selected object/bone for the operator when called from menus + hotkeys (but not for buttons window)

This commit is still buggy. I'll fix the remaining issues tomorrow, as well as adding some more operators for IK add/clear.

* Objects now support up to 32767 material slots. It's easy to
  increase this further, but I prefer not to increase the memory
  usage of mesh faces, it seems unlikely that someone would
  create 32767 distinct materials?
* Forward compatibility: the only thing you can potentially lose
  reading a 2.5 file in 2.4 is object linking (instead of default
  data), though usually that will go fine too. Reading files with
  > 32 material slots in 2.4 can start giving issues.

* The ob->colbits variable is deprecated by the array ob->matbits
  but I didn't remove the ob->colbits updates in very few places
  it is set.
* I hope I changed all the relevant things, various places just
  hardcoded the number 16 instead of using the MAXMAT define.

* Join Objects operator back. This is using the version from the
  animsys2 branch coded by Joshua, which means it now supports
  joining of shape keys.

* Fix for crash reading file saved during render.

Group option currently doesnt handle multiple groups.

Set makefiles python version to 2.6 for linux since its common now.

* 3D view Mesh menu works again, but incomplete.

* Various fixes in existing mesh operators, some were not working.
* Add MESH_OT_merge.
* Merge all subdivide ops into MESH_OT_subdivide, subdivide code
  changes to make smooth + multi give good results.
* Rename all select inverse ops to *_OT_select_inverse.
* Fix "search for unknown operator" prints at startup, and some
  warnings in py code.
* Don't run .pyc files on startup.
* Remove unused image window header C code.

* Lattices: properties editable, editmode operators, menus working
  again. As a bonus you can now edit u/v/w in editmode.
* Shape Keys: some code cleanup, and added more buttons. The
  value/min/max buttons don't work correct yet though.
* Fix issue with uv textures, vertex colors not being visible outside
  editmode, and a few other issue. Mesh.edit_mesh is now NULL when
  not in editmode.

093ff8202c 2.5: Physics Buttons
All kinds of changes to get it ready for UI layouts. This means RNA
and operators should be working correct, but most buttons are still
not actually there yet.

* Added near empty soft body, fluid, field and collision panels,
  tweaks to cloth panels.
* Fluid bake works, but without escape or showing any progress.
* Fluid/Softbody/Cloth/Collision can now be both added as modifiers
  or in the physics panels.
* Missing: fields & soft body for particles.
* Missing: proper updating softbodies, guess this code still needs
  updates after pointcache refactor?

colors dissappear. I thought me->edit_mesh would be NULL when not in
edit mode but it is not?
