f350cde18c -noaudio option to force the sound system to None.
Useful when openAL is not setup properly (*cough* pulseaudio *cough) and prevents startup.

This doesn't actually affect the userpref option, so you can set it to whatever you want, save userprefs and restart.

added a function - wm_window_get_size_ghost(), which looks into the ghost window directly so events dont need processing first.

854cc87a80 option to have scripts run on startup for per blendfile UI's 2009-11-20 15:01:09 +00:00
4c7dc3e5c5 changes python initialization
- bpy is now a python package, this makes it easier to add utility modules and adjust python startup which was previously using verbose Py/C api. Access should not be any slower since both C and Python modules use dictionary access.
- loop over scripts and load via python (currently F8 reload isnt working, will add back shortly)
- the C module is kept but renamed to _bpy and not meant for direct access from anything but the bpy package.
- bpy_types.py is an exception since it runs before the bpy package is initialized.

e776ecfdde Background mode in more working conditions.
What works:
The usual command line options for rendering.
All python scripts are loaded (which includes custom properties)
Render engines are loaded and can be used
-P to run scripts works partially: rna api works ok, not operators.

What doesn't:
Most operator calls in python. This is a problem with poll functions. (Brecht and Campbell are aware of this already)

Changes:
-d now also applied with -b (it was ignored before)
user file (.B25.blend) now also loaded in bg mode. This helps for custom paths and all.
wm is also initialized (it's needed for a lot of context calls)
Ghost, however, is not initialized.

3b43a5228e Mac / COCOA :
- revert tiff load/save to use standard libtiff (to ensure 100% colorimetry & alpha interpretation across platforms)
- include patch #18720 to fix load of libtiff dynlib (if present on system)
2009-11-02 11:20:31 +00:00
b1a832a7e2 Mac / COCOA : Imbuf
- replace libtiff by calls to Cocoa services to load/save tiff files
(Libtiff, dynamically linked is not distributed with OS X, and would have had to be shipped for all four architectures)

The imb_cocoaLoadImage & imb_cocoaSaveImage are generic towards the bitmap format, and thus can handle TIFF, GIF, JPG, JP2000, BMP and raw camera formats (read-only for these), even if today only TIFF is used as the other formats are already handled.

- CMake updated
- scons updated (Thx to Jens Verwiebe)

e7abdd7d56 Better unix filesystem integration as documented here
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/Unix_FHS

for scons WITH_BF_FHS enabled an alternative layout eg.
scons WITH_BF_FHS=1 BF_INSTALLDIR="/usr/local"

for CMake just run "make install" after make (CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX is used for the base path)

Currently only scripts use both the system and user path correctly, other areas of blender have their own path code inline with lots of ifdefs, needs to be carefully updated.

9f5d257483 New command line argument to specify render engine
-E <engine>

-E help: lists all available engine and then quits. (blender window might flash open and then disappear. io python scripts need to be read for all engine, so we have to load interface and not do that before like other help options).

When run after -b, only builtin engines are available because of the python scripts not being read correctly bug.

366a64959c 2.5: Render/Game Engine
An engine to use for output can now be selected an influences what
shows in the buttons window, only showing relevant data. The idea
behind this is to make it more clear what is supported where, make
the system more pluggable for external render/game engines, and save
space hiding stuff that is not relevant anyway.

* Top header now has an engine menu, to choose between the blender
render engine, game engine, and other future external engines.
* If the game engine is enabled, the buttons window should show
only properties that work in the game engine, and similarly for
  the render engine.
* Moved panels from the logic space and game tabs to the physics,
scene and world tabs instead, and removed the game tab.
* Materials and textures tabs should eventually become game
specific too, to better show what is supported.

8ab7fbe795 Blender/Python API
Send the full python stack trace to the reporting api,
added BPY_exception_buffer which temporarily overrides sys.stdout and sys.stderr to get the output (uses the io module in py3 StringIO in py2 to avoid writing into a real file), pity the Py/C api has no function to do this.

963e217c2a undo previous commit, changing running the script to importing it somehow made it crash when running the class functions. will look into this further. 2009-04-11 10:01:49 +00:00
9d922b4c24 Changed the script UI registration to import rather then run each python script,
this means it caches the compiled pyc files after importing fro the first time.

My times for importing 501 buttons_objects.py files were.
- running each as a script 1.9sec
- importing for the first time 1.8sec
- importing a second time (using pyc files) 0.57sec

Also added "bpy" to sys.modules so it can be imported.

c7b587105f UI:
* Added very basic loading of .py files on startup to define panels.
It now executes all .py files in .blender/ui on startup. Right now
this contains the object buttons, the C code for it is commented out.

These files should get embedded in the blender executable as well
eventually, that's a bit more complicated so this works for now.

* For scons and cmake it seems to copy & find the files OK, for make
only "make release" works (same with scripts/ folder it seems).

* Added BLI_gethome_folder function in BLI_util.h. This is adapted
from bpy_gethome, and gives the path to a folder in .blender like
  scripts or ui.

There's plenty of things to figure out here about paths, embedding,
caching, user configs ...

55150edc92 [#18164] jpeg2000 patch, with some fixes from Peter too.
Support for jpeg2000 and writing DCI Cinema standard files.

Notes
* 12 and 16bit channel depths are converted from/to blenders float buffer.
* Grayscale/RGB with alpha supported.
* Theres an option to save color channels as YCC rather then RGB.
* Quality 100 saves lossless
* The UI is a bit weired because of the DCI standards need to be given to the encoder.

Think global, act local!

The old favorite G.scene gone! Man... that took almost 2 days.
Also removed G.curscreen and G.edbo.

Not everything could get solved; here's some notes.
- modifiers now store current scene in ModifierData. This is not
meant for permanent, but it can probably stick there until we
cleaned the anim system and depsgraph to cope better with
  timing issues.
- Game engine G.scene should become an argument for staring it.
  Didn't solve this yet.
- Texture nodes should get scene cfra, but the current implementation
is too tightly wrapped to do it easily.

0a8a00cd10 2.5: Error reporting
* Added a report list to operator, to which they can report errors and
warnings. When the operator ends, it will display them with a popup. For
python these should become exceptions when calling operators.
* Added a function to make a popup menu from a report list.
* Also added a utility function to prepend a string before the reports to
indicate what they relates to. Also made the report functions used
  BLI_dynstr to simplify the code.
* Made file reading and writing report errors to the user again using this
system, also replacing the left over uncommented bad level error() calls.

- View3D: added ALT+B clipping operator. Note this needs a call to
the new function view3d_operator_needs_opengl(C) to ensure you

4a86a07f8a wip operator py-api
"operator.ED_VIEW3D_OT_viewhome(center=1)" calls the operator, converting keyword args to properties.
Need a way to run scripts in the UI for useful testing.

Still need to deal with operator exceptions and verifying args against operator options.

Added temporary WM_operatortype_first() to allow python to return a list if available operators, can replace this with something better later (operator iterator?)

Context API

This adds the context API as described here. The main practical change
now is that C is not longer directly accessible but has to be accessed
through accessor functions. This basically adds the implementation of
the API and adaption of existing code with some minor changes. The next
task of course is to actually use this design to cleanup of bad level
calls and global access, in blenkernel, blenloader.

Error, Warning and Debug Info Reporting

This adds the error reporting API as described here. It should help
clean up error() calls in non-ui code, but eventually can become used
for gathering messages for a console window, and throwing exceptions
in python scripts when an error happens executing something.
