- define __BIG_ENDIAN__ or __LITTLE_ENDIAN__ with cmake & scons.
- ENDIAN_ORDER is now a define rather than a global short.
- replace checks like this with single ifdef: #if defined(__sgi) || defined (__sparc) || defined (__sparc__) || defined (__PPC__) || defined (__ppc__) || defined (__hppa__) || defined (__BIG_ENDIAN__)
- remove BKE_endian.h which isn't used

* The texture selector for brushes wasn't updating. Seems that preview
images have two sizes, small (icon) and big, but it was only
updating if the icon size was set to update. Now both are checked.
* Also changed the previewimage arrays to use the already-existing
PREVIEW_MIPMAPS define, makes it a little clearer what the arrays
are for.
only tags the ID and does the actual flush/update delayed, before the next
redraw. For objects the update was already delayed, just flushing wasn't
yet.
This should help performance in python and animation editors, by making
calls to RNA property update quicker. Still need to add calls in a few
places where this was previously avoided due to bad performance.
This commit is just meant to give the new GUI framework a concrete shape.
There is no usefulness in newly introduced elements at the moment.
Freestyle options in render layers now include a pull-down menu named Control
Mode that allows you to choose either the Python Scripting or Parameter Editor
mode. The Python Scripting mode is the conventional way of controlling
Freestyle by directly using style modules written in Python. The Parameter
Editor is a new control mode that is intended to be used by everyone without
relying on Python programming.
In the Parameter Editor mode, you can specify multiple line sets for each
render layer. A line set defines feature edge selection criteria, as
well as a line style for drawing the selected feature edges using specific
line stylization parameters. Line style is a new datablock type, meaning
that a line style can be shared by multiple line sets (possibly those in
different render layers in different scenes).
Much more additions are anticipated in subsequent commits to implement UI
controls for specifying feature edge selection criteria and line stylization
parameters.
eg. character.blend -> anim.blend -> comp.blend
... Would link the character.blend directly into comp.blend because on driver ID's.
In this case id_lib_extern doenst need to be called because the object its linked from is a library.
blender supports type changing for textures in a way that python doesnt.
add a new general function.
Example usage:
tex = bpy.data.textures.new("Foo")
tex.type = 'IMAGE'
tex = tex.recast_type()
Macro to give the number of users accounting for fake user.
ID_REAL_USERS(id)
Use this so you can remove a datablock if it has a fake users as well as apply transformations to it in the 3D view.
Move api function bpy.data.add_texture() --> bpy.data.textures.new()/remove()
- 'center', while Ctrl is held select objects from their center location
- 'enumerate', while Alt is held, give a list of objects under the mouse
- Object selection menu now uses icons with names
- operator object.select_name(name, extend=False)
- keybindings so combinations of Ctrl/Alt/Shift can be used (like in 2.4x)
- logic text input field was using deprecated ID_SCRIPT rather then ID_TXT
details
- added comments to DNA_ID.h ID types
- removed unused ID types Sector and Life
- added uiIconFromID() to get an icon from the object.
- using name for selection is weak but currently there isnt a really good way to do this.
Patch from Joshua, converting Grease Pencil to 2.5.
All GP data now is an ID block, allowing re-use, link and append.
For better contextual control within 2.5, these GP ID's will get
linked to actual data, like NodeTrees, Scenes, Images or Objects.
That will ensure Undo works, and opens up exciting new use cases
as well. :)
Patch note: on reading files, GPencils linked from editors will
get moved to the main library, using standard naming (indicating
where it was used), and with "Fake User" set. That way the user
can manually relink the pencils where appropriate.
We can check on just linking GP to some default, like 3d window
pencils to Scene? Nice to experiment with.
Notes for Joshua:
- for reading old GPencil, it has to use old code as well, meaning
to tread data as "indirect data, within another ID".
- Saving ID data means the chunk in file BHead needs the ID_GD code,
and not "DATA", which indicates 'indirect data'. That's the file
format spec.
- I've added do_versions_gpencil_2_50(), feel free to further tweak
things here, like linking things to scene or so.
- Formerly GPencil saved 2.50 files won't convert gpencil
- remove Verse support. This will be brought back in The Future (probably jiri + me)
This means 5k lines less in blenkernel.
- fix two small errors for global cleanup, now compiles properly with FFMPEG enabled too.
* Store RNA collections different in ID properties, using a generic
ID property array, using the patch provided by Joe.
* Fix bug accessing registered operator properties in the wm from the
outliner.
* In the outliner, only use the RNA icon for RNA data, and use dot
again for unknown icon.
* Also, show pointer properties data in the second column, and auto
expand two levels when opening them.
* Added small RNA_struct_defined_properties function to get only the
defined properties without builtin and undefined id properties
(for py operators).
Since we'll reshuffle a lot in UI code, making new Screens totally
incompatible, this patch saves the Screen chunk in Blender files
with a new identifier (ID_SCRN), causing it to be not read in old
Blender binaries. Pre-2.50 blender already has a facility to recover
from this (it keeps old UI), including for .B.blends (it opens
default simple screen)
For the latter reason, it might be advisable to have the .B.blend
for 2.50+ saved as another name? Then you can use both for while.
(Note: commit is just 3 lines of code, other files are comments I
added for documentation of other stuff)
* Added support for ID properties, mapped as follows:
* IDP Int = RNA Int
* IDP Float, Double = RNA Float
* IDP_String = RNA String
* IDP Group = RNA IDPropertyGroup Struct
* IDP_Array = RNA Array
* PropertyRNA and StructRNA are now defined private for the module,
to force external code to always use accessor functions.
svn merge https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/trunk/blender -r12987:17416
Issues:
* GHOST/X11 had conflicting changes. Some code was added in 2.5, which was
later added in trunk also, but reverted partially, specifically revision
16683. I have left out this reversion in the 2.5 branch since I think it is
needed there.
http://projects.blender.org/plugins/scmsvn/viewcvs.php?view=rev&root=bf-blender&revision=16683
* Scons had various conflicting changes, I decided to go with trunk version
for everything except priorities and some library renaming.
* In creator.c, there were various fixes and fixes for fixes related to the -w
-W and -p options. In 2.5 -w and -W is not coded yet, and -p is done
differently. Since this is changed so much, and I don't think those fixes
would be needed in 2.5, I've left them out.
* Also in creator.c: there was code for a python bugfix where the screen was not
initialized when running with -P. The code that initializes the screen there
I had to disable, that can't work in 2.5 anymore but left it commented as a
reminder.
Further I had to disable some new function calls. using src/ and python/, as
was done already in this branch, disabled function calls:
* bpath.c: error reporting
* BME_conversions.c: editmesh conversion functions.
* SHD_dynamic: disabled almost completely, there is no python/.
* KX_PythonInit.cpp and Ketsji/ build files: Mathutils is not there, disabled.
* text.c: clipboard copy call.
* object.c: OB_SUPPORT_MATERIAL.
* DerivedMesh.c and subsurf_ccg, stipple_quarttone.
Still to be done:
* Go over files and functions that were moved to a different location but could
still use changes that were done in trunk.
=========
Merge of the famous particle patch by Janne Karhu, a full rewrite
of the Blender particle system. This includes:
- Emitter, Hair and Reactor particle types.
- Newtonian, Keyed and Boids physics.
- Various particle visualisation and rendering types.
- Vertex group and texture control for various properties.
- Interpolated child particles from parents.
- Hair editing with combing, growing, cutting, .. .
- Explode modifier.
- Harmonic, Magnetic fields, and multiple falloff types.
.. and lots of other things, some more info is here:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Particles_Rewritehttp://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Particles_Rewrite_Doc
The new particle system cannot be backwards compatible. Old particle
systems are being converted to the new system, but will require
tweaking to get them looking the same as before.
Point Cache
===========
The new system to replace manual baking, based on automatic caching
on disk. This is currently used by softbodies and the particle system.
See the Cache API section on:

Documentation
=============
These new features still need good docs for the release logs, help
for this is appreciated.
Initial commit of imagebrowser in trunk.
BIG COMMIT!
Main changes:
* completely reworked imasel space
* creation and storage of the preview images for materials, textures, world and lamp
* thumbnails of images and movie files when browsing in the file system
* loading previews from external .blend when linking or appending
* thumbnail caching according to the Thumbnail Managing Standard: http://jens.triq.net/thumbnail-spec/
* for now just kept imasel access mostly as old imgbrowser (CTRL+F4, CTRL+F1) a bit hidden still.
* filtering of file types (images, movies, .blend, py,...)
* preliminary managing of bookmarks ('B' button to add, XKEY while bookmark active to delete)
More detailed info which will be updated here: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Elubie/PreviewImageBrowser
Places that need special review (and probably fixes):
* BLO_blendhandle_get_previews in readblenentry
* readfile.c: do_version and refactorings of do_library_append
* UI integration
TODO and known issues still:
* Accented characters do not display correctly with international fonts
* Crash was reported when browsing in directory with movie files
* Bookmark management still needs some UI work (second scrollbar?), feedback here is welcome!

Samir Bharadwaj (samirbharadwaj@yahoo.com) for the icon images.
Many thanks to everyone who gave feedback and helped so far!
ID Properties weren't being duplicated (by shift-D or any of the other
duplication functions). So now ID properties are duplicated in the
main copy_libblock function, which (as far as I can check) covers all
ID-contained ID properties.
I also updated the constraint system to copy pyconstraint ID properties
on shift-D.
This would probably be a good thing to add to the stable branch, btw.
Existing data is flagged with LIB_APPEND_TAG and all_local only has an option to only operate on un-flagged data.
If you append an object thats linked to a material alredy linked in your scene, the material will not be made local.
So at worst youll need to make local some of the datablocks.
This is fairly simple and though my tests show it to work, do some tests on your own libraries before assuming its problem free.
scripttemplate_mesh_edit wasnt updated with PyAPI changes and moved some functions into generic places.
- Outliner now shows hierarchy for Libraries, indicating which Library
files invoked loading another.
- SHIFT+F1 "Append" browser has a Library menu, allowing to directly browse
into all open library files. This will prevent accidents like re-opening
a same .blend via another path.
library .blend files anymore, making it a load faster to use.
- Fixed ancient annoyance; samples were not properly freed, giving a lot
"Error Totblock" when using sound.
This fix also involves removing an ancient NaN hack, which treated the
samples as fake Library data in the Main database.
But still, the Blender Sound and Sample code is horrible... :/
This commit adds supports for per-ID properties to blender.
See http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/ID_Property
for more information on how it all works.
ID properties are accesable by python; but note that
bindings have only been added to Object and Material thus
far. However adding more bindings is easy and I plan
on adding several more hopefully within an hour of this inital
commit.
A generic UI panel is also planned, that will go wherever its
needed; for example in the material buttons, editing buttons, etc.
I'll likely submit the initial code for that as a patch, though,
so matt and ton and others can go over it and make sure it's
all good. :)
VERY important, if you intend to use ID properties please
go to http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/PropertyStandards
and start writing the appropriate standards for it.
