System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: Radeon(TM) RX 550 ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.0 Core Profile Context 23.2.2.230217

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.1, branch: blender-v3.4-release, commit date: 2022-12-19 17:00, hash: rB55485cb379f7
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
I'm having a problem with the new obj file importer. The problem is the new OBJ importer will ignore the information in the MTL file that tells blender where to look for the textures on my computer and by default it looks for the textures in the same file where the OBJ model is. The OBJ legacy importer uses the addresses in the MTL, and I don't have the need to create new folders with textures, since blender uses in my case those of Daz studio, which is the information in the MTL.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
To reproduce this problem, use Daz or any program that allow export obj using the program texture library as a source for the texture be use in blender.

I no include a blend file because I think no made difference, since the problem is obj files created in other programs, obj created in blender the textures load fine even if they are in different folders. I test Blender 3.3.2, 3.4.0, 3.4.1 stable versions, 3.5.0 beta, 3.6.0 alpha.I use blender as come from factory and with addons, and keep getting the same error wen using the new obj importer. Thank you for your time and all the work of the blender foundation, have a beautiful and good day.

Please create a small .OBJ file with .MTLs and attach them to this report so we can reproduce the problem.

Since Daz model and textures are copyright, I was trying to do a primitive cube obj whit polyheaven textures and exported from daz, but all my exported obj open fine using the new Obj importer. I manage to recreate the problem wen I create a folder structure similar to the one daz use,F:\Testure 1\texture 2\texture 3\texture 4\pavement_03_1k.blend\textures. I include the obj, mtl and the folder I create to replicate the problem. Thanks

Confirmed. It's because the path in the MTL is a "quoted" absolute path and the importer wasn't expecting that combination. It was only expecting a "quoted" relative path. Should be somewhat easy to fix.
