Short description of error
Creating a new scene causes Blender to crash or freeze.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In some cases, when I finished previewing the scene using the viewport render in Cycles, and then I switched to solid mode, if I create a new scene Blender quits unexpectedly. Other times, it simply freezes.
I have attached the scene, a couple of log files, and a screen record.
I'm testing with other scenes to see if the issue persists.
The issue doesn't happen in Blender 3.4.1
Hello, I can't reproduce. Please try to be accurate in your description of the replay hags, and keep the use of addons to a minimum.
Also, has this happened in other versions of blender?
Check if this happens when you don't have asset browser in workspace. Definitely try with only stock addons (click on File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings). Also Just to confirm by new scene you mean new .blend file? you are bit too fast for me to follow the video.
I tried with a clean install of Blender 3.5.0
Apparently, the crash doesn't happen.
But upon further exploration, I found out that this issue has definitely something to do with the Asset Browser.
In fact, if the viewport is in rendered mode and I access my HDRI library in the asset browser, chances are Blender will crash. And this happens with a clean install too.
I'm attaching one of the latest logs.
This time, it crashed by simply creating a new scene, after having switching the asset browser to the material editor window.
There was only the default cube in the scene, and nothing else.
Could you please try switching editor windows, as I show in the screen capture attached?
If you switch a few times between different editor, and then you open the asset browser back and forth, maybe it will trigger the crash on your side too.
If you try the steps from above, and then you create a new file, it should crash.
Blender crashes (or freezes) after switching from viewport render to solid, and creating a new scene.to Blender crashes after switching between different editors and the asset browser. It looks like this is issue with asset browser. I still can't reproduce this issue. It could be caused by specific asset in the library. Can you try to identify which it could be and upload as small library as possible so we can reproduce?
No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
Thanks again for the report. If the problem persists please open a new report with the required information.
