System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 531.41

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.0, branch: blender-v3.5-release, commit date: 2023-03-29 02:56, hash: 1be25cfff18b
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Y and -Y are labeled wrong in the Axis Gizmo on the 3D Viewpage

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
The Axis Gizmo on the 3D Viewport top right. If you press:
X = Right Orthographic
-X = Left Orthographic
Y = Back Orthographic (should this not be Front Orthographic?)
-Y = Front Orthographic (should this not be Back Orthographic?)
Z = Top Orthographic
-Z = Bottom Orthographic

I'd close this as a feature request since you're just saying it shouldn't work that way. But you did not give any examples, without the need to explore by myself, I could't consider this to be some kind of real problem to fix.

Ok. Open a new blender File.

Press Numpad-3 and watch the Navigation Gizmo on the 3D View. It shows: X
This is Right Orthographic view and it is correct.

Now Press Numpad-7 and look on the Navigation Gizmo. It Shows: Z
This is also correct for Top Orthographic View.

But now comes the inconsistent Axis. Press Numpad-1 and it shows: -Y
This is wrong. It should show Y for Front Orthographic, not -Y.

Why is that wrong?)))
Give examples from other parts of the blender if this is inconsistent behavior. If it's just your desire, then yes, it's just a feature request

It is not consistent:

In Blender there is an Order in the Directions:

Right, Left , Numpad-3, Ctrl-Numpad-3, Axis X , Axis -X
Top , Bottom, Numpad-7, Ctrl-Numpad-7, Axis Z , Axis -Z
Front, Back , Numpad-1, Ctrl-Numpad-1, Axis -Y, Axis Y (Axis in wrong order)

This is not is not a feature request. It is an inconsistency in labeling.

If blender use -Y direction to render and stick to that in the gizmo? Are there other places in blender where Y is in front?

I admit, that it doesn't change the behaviour of blender, the same as if the word Blender would have a typo in the splash screen. It is a kind of esthetic thing.

If X is positive and Z is positive, should not then be Y positive also?

And I did't mean to change anything on the render engine, just the gizmo shows the wrong thing. The Gizmo should show Y instead of -Y and -Y instead of Y.

But keep your energy, close the case and we forget about it. And thank you for your quick answers and your time.

The "Top" viewpoint displays the XY plane, "Front" - XZ, "Right" - YZ; and the direction of the axes, as expected, to the right and to the up.
