Short description of error
When I select vertices on one side of my mesh it selects the back vertices sometimes, I already turned off X-ray mode and switched to solid view but the issue persists
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I don't know how I can reproduce it in a simple way since it only happens when I have a lot of poly, but here is an example from blender guru
"https://youtu.be/R1isb0x4zYw?list=PLjEaoINr3zgFX8ZsChQVQsuDSjEqdWMAD&t=553"
Hi, thanks for the report. Issue shown in the video is very likely same as #94981
Object outside of edit mode are not considered when selecting.
Feature request has been submitted already, see: https://blender.community/c/rightclickselect/08Kv/?sorting=hot
Closing because it is not a bug.
After a bit of testing, I found that the problem goes away when I apply the mirror modifier or turn on the "On Cage" option in the mirror modifier
But I don't see how this is the same as the issues mentioned above, since that one involved clicking through objects that are not in edit mode, unless the side that was mirrored is considered to be in object mode when the "On cage" option is turned off and is then considered to be in edit mode when its turned on
yes, problem seems different in uploaded video. I had only checked youtube-video earlier (which is related to the linked report).
Could you share .blend file with us in which the issue is replicable?
To recreate the issue just select half of the body
I have also tried it in previous versions of blender (Blender 3.3.6 and Blender 2.93.17) and it seems the same thing happens
Thanks for the file. As far as I can see, when displaying modifier output in edit-mode, geometry generated by it is not occluded. That's why vertices/faces/edges on the other side of mirrored geometry are selected.
Very much related to #82182
Can you confirm?
Yeah, it's the same
