Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.0 Beta, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-05-26 07:03, hash:
e2a75814ac9f
Worked: This is the only version I have used
There are more than 20 parameters or attributes in my geometry nodes setup, and when I try to use those attributes in shader editor it doesn't update its values. Sometimes it updates when there is a viewer node connected.
[Please fill out a short description of the error here]
Its a big node tree and a lot of materials, so that's it.
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]
Hi @SouvikBiswas Please try give us the file that replicates the issue, thanks! Shader should always update when the attribute values change. Is it the render result not changing? Or the names in the shader editor? Or is it something else? Could you describe the step by step replication and the behaviour?
This is limited by this code I think:
@fclem , @Jeroen-Bakker : Assume this can be closed? Or kept as Known Limitation? Should be mentioned in the manual? https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/3.6/render/shader_nodes/input/attribute.html
This isn't a limitation of geometry nodes. But of the render engine. Eevee in this case. Best that https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/3.6/render/eevee/limitations.html should be updated as it doesn't reflect the attribute limitation. So the title should be updated and the manual.
Cycles and other render engines might have other limitations. After updating the manual we can file this issue as known issue.
Maximum number of attributes that can be used with geometry nodes and shader editor.to Maximum number of attributes that can be used with eevee shadingMaximum number of attributes that can be used with eevee shadingto Maximum number of attributes that can be used with eevee shading needs to be documentedHm, maybe this needs to be moved to https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender-manual then?
Thank you all for the comments. I now understand that it is a problem with Eevee. Hopefully this changes later, but I don't know how that works. It works perfectly in cycles.
Thank you again
