System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.17.15-76051715-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.35 64 Bits, X11 UI
Graphics card: Quadro RTX 6000/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 515.48.07

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.1, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-07-21 12:59, hash: c284cfcd0830
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
using drag and drop from the outliner to the node editor does not work for existing object sockets

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • create new object info node
  • drag and drop any (other) object from the outliner onto the node's object input socket

I can confirm. Might be expected behavior when self object is added (but eye-dropper and UiList allows same object in name field)

On a first look, I only considered dropping self object but it seems I can not drag&drop any other object to object info node

Doesnt work for shader nodes either:

  • create a Texture Coordinate node
  • drag and drop any object from the outliner onto the node's object input
Doesnt work for shader nodes either: - create a `Texture Coordinate` node - drag and drop any object from the outliner onto the node's object input

Think this is more for the User Interface module to handle (since it involves multiple dropboxes defined in ED_dropboxes_ui vs node_dropboxes). Seems once all drops fail from node_dropboxes we dont actually get to the ones from ED_dropboxes_ui...

Will check on it a bit.
