System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.0 Core Profile Context 22.20.27.09.230330
Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.2, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-08-16 16:43, hash:
e53e55951e7a
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
I am trying to render my donut, but I can only do so with CPU. Whenever I try to render with GPU compute HIP with my 5700 xt enabled, the screen freezes; it becomes unresponsive and I have to manually close the program. My hardware doesn´t seem to be the problem, afterburner is detecting everything and it seems fine. Drivers updated, latest Windows 11 version
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Update: when I am rendering it renders 9 samples more or less and then it abruptly stops, unresponsive again.
@awdawdawdaw Did blender pit out new frames while the window being unresponsive? Sometimes the window can become unresponsive especially in GPU rendering due to heavy graphics load, but it might be just rendering fine.
If you can see status report on the top left corner of the render viewer/viewport, please tell us what it's saying up to the program freezing.
If the program eventually crashes, maybe you can find the crash log, and if you do please share with us. Thanks!
Also, please check if you can find newer drivers (23.xxx) for you AMD card. Thanks!
No, it did not pit out new frames. And AMD just pops a message saying "driver waiting time timed out" something like that. I´ll try to emulate the error again to see if I can get any crash log or status report. Thanks
Nothing seems to appear on the status report, just the basic information, the samples stuck at a point. Then the amd message.
Blender doesnt crash, windows opens the "the applicartion is not responding" tab and then I have to close it manually.
I´m going to try and clean drivers with DDU and update to a more stable version
@awdawdawdaw If it's driver TDR error, you might reference this article from AMD
Update: did everything in the article and still nothing, still with the same error latest adrenalin drivers. Uploading screenshot.
From that point it doesn´t generate more samples, unresponsive, and the AMD error pops up again.
Still having this problem
I've a similar problem, I start a render and it takes 4 hours to render 1 image and using 0-1% of my GPU... (RX 6800 XT)
Still having this problem with LTS 3.4.6 and AMD 23.9.3.
However this time it renders about 60% of the image and then abruptly stops
