System Information
Operating system: MacOS 12.6.5
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M (but this occurs also on CPU)
Blender Version
Broken: 3.6.2
Worked: don't know
Short description of error
In the attached .blend file I have set up an emission shader to emit light from one end of a long thin surface. The screenshot illustrates the problem: a bunch of weird artefacts appear.
If I change it to emit from the other end of the surface, by swapping the 'Map Range' node in the screenshot for the disconnected one, the problem goes away.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Load the attached .blend file and switch the view to rendered.
Can't reproduce on
Operating system: macOS-13.4-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Metal API AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 1.2
Sorry, just checked with 3.6 and I was able to reproduce the issue, but not with 4.0. Please check if this issue happens with alpha build from https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/
Also can't reproduce.
System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 BitsGraphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 527.56
I confirm it doesn't happen in 4.0 beta. (I assume it won't happen in 4.10 alpha either in that case, but if you'd like me to check let me know).
I'm sorry for not checking the alpha before posting, and also sorry for the late reply. Next time I'll check the latest alpha before posting.
This is fixed in 3.6 LTS now, probably since 3.6.7 due to the backporting of the #110183 fix.
As it's also fixed in 4.0 and newer, this can be closed I think.
