Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When you double click on any text field with the intention to select all of the text when you start dragging to select the other words the first characters dont stay selected

usually when double clicking a word the entire word stays selected regardless of where the initial mouse location was when double clicked but in blender the characters before or after the mouse location when double clicked don't remain selected when you drag to select more words

This might need more explanation about the expected behavior.

This starts with one operation, double-clicking to select a word. When you do so the word become highlighted and the text cursor is moved to the end of that word.

Then there is a second operation where the mouse button is depressed inside the word and then dragged. I'm not sure what the expected behavior would be. Blender seems to match Windows Text Editor:

Or am I misunderstanding the complaint?

Doing the same thing on this web page, using Chrome, it also does not do what this ticket describes. Instead, dragging on an already-selected word drags that word:

Double click and hold the second click then drag the mouse to the next words (dont ever let go of the click or click a third time). The entire word that is highlighted from the double click should stay completely highlighted when you drag the mouse. Currently when you drag the mouse, the characters before the mouse location on the double click don’t remain selected as one would expect.

Here's how the expected behavior works (recorded from blender 2.8)

Ah. Double-click, but keep the mouse button held down and drag.

Will take a look. Thanks!
