Short description of error
VDB loaded even if visibility is turned off
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I have an explosion VDB in my scene. Even if I turn off the viewport visibility, it still loads it in memory and playback is slowed down like crazy. It shouldn't be the case. I should be able to turn it off so I can have fast playback and just have it visible at render time.
Of course all the data is gonna be staying in the memory whether it's visible or not.
I think you could use "Disable in viewports" option (the little monitor icon ), this way the object should not be updated while your animation is being played.
VDB loaded even if visibility is turned offto VDB slowing down animation playing even when visibility is turned offYeah, that's the point of this bug report. Even if you turn it off it will still load it. :-)
Hi, this might be related to other issues of depsgraph evaluation #76257 / #89599
As Yiming said, vdb data is going to stay unitl you close the file.
I'm trying to repro with high resolution volume data but unable to. Do you have any example file?
Just gave another try.
disable in viewport
(object level property) fixes the performance. While we do continue to work on improving performance in general, potential performance improvements are not handled as bug reports.
OK so it's closed but does that mean this has been flagged somewhere in you system and be looked at later or it will just stay like this?
