This is a list of small tasks to improve and maintain the Industry Compatible keymap.
These notes come from feedback and testing.

Missing/Conflicting

  • Stencil shortcuts are not possible. Stencils need gizmos to support the IC keymap (#118432)
  • Alt LMB is used in Grease Pencil for the Fill Tool to draw boundary strokes. This should be remapped to Shift Alt LMB to avoid conflict with rotating the viewport
  • Grease Pencil Weight Paint mode is missing the transform and selection tools (and as a result the shortcuts)
  • Grease Pencil is missing support for the 1-3 shortcuts #115172
  • Annotate draw is executed with MMB and won't stop on release. This should be prevented for any tools that behave like brushes.
  • Ctrl Function Keys doesn't work on Linux. COuld be remapped to Shift Function Keys
  • No shortcut to remove objects from local view

Inconsistencies

  • Tab should be used for menu search instead of Spacebar
  • Remove Alt LMB for panning in all 2D editors. It's conflicting with opening panels.
  • Find a universal shortcut to pan in list editors. MMB or Alt MMB could work.
  • Enter is conflicting between the Rename operator and toggling any button under the cursor. Seems to be hardcoded
  • Select Linked should become consistent everywhere. Ideally by using Alt dbl LMB

Good to Have

  • Outliner show level shortcuts should use - and = instead of Numpad - and Numpad +. (More accessible)
  • Ctrl X for the extended shading pie menu
  • A universal shortcut for Add menus
  • A universal shortcut to "Apply". Either apply selected modifier or apply menu in 3D Viewport

Needs Investigation

It's good that ICK is actually becoming more industry compatible, which it hasn't been. Just one note:

Find` a universal shortcut to pan in list editors. MMB or Alt MMB could work.

MMB or RMB drag is standard, MMB a bit more often. But two important things that are often gotten wrong:
MMB should be universal language for panning in the entire software. It should pan in the 3D view, 2D views and it should pan/scroll also in UI panels. But there's one important exception for 3D views, where both MMB and Alt+MMB should do the same thing, where user still wants to be able to comfortably pan around the viewport, but if they are in the middle of pan/orbit/zoom navigation, they don't want to be releasing the alt key for pan operation specifically.

I am saying this because people often make mistake of 3D views either having MMB pan without Alt key or Alt+MMB pan only, and both are very awkward. The thought process behind it that there should not be a duplicate for same operation in the 3D view, but this is prime example of exception which rightfully proves the rule.
