Curve modifier and intersecting geometry breaks Grease Pencil #116097

Short description of error
the curve modifer breaks the line art modifier when looking through the camera even when the object using the curve modifier is a significant distance away from the objects that are being treated with the line art modifier.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Render EEVEE and make the camera viewing the curves:

  1. Create a circle Curve, make 2D, and fill both sides + add transparent shader (it should ) Change alpha settings
    name the circle fill and duplicate the 2nd circle and call it mask, make sure to go into edit mode in the mask circle and make it smaller than the filled circle.
  2. Create an open bezier curve.
  3. Add a add a modifier to the bezier curve.
  4. Select the open 2D bezier curve and give some geometry by name by changing the bevel slider.
  5. Create a Curve Modifier and select the mask circle. When both of the open bezier curve and the object mask origin are aligned and the open bezier curve has been straightened out and the curve handles are set to free the curve will animate freely around the mask shape when moved along the X axis.
  6. Select the circle to create grease pencil Line art object.
  7. change the stroke option to fill and choose a color, then change the opacity so the color of the fill is not long visible.
  8. name the layer alpha and create another layer and call it fill. Both these layers need to be keyframed at frame 1. so make the line art modifier work. so draw some data and remove the data but keep the keyframes.
  9. create a second grease pencil material and give it a color.
  10. grease pencil alpha layer will act as the mask for the fill layer.
  11. go to the modifier stack so there are two (2) line art modifers 1 is for the alpha material and layer the other is for the fill layer. this will create the illusion that alpha circle is cutting out the fill circle.
    12 Because these objects are the same level there will be z fighing so raise the 2D open bezier curve to be above both closed circles curve shapes.
  12. Turning the curve modifier off and moving the stroke along the x-axis wont break the line art. but when turned on it does break the line art modifier.

Hi, thanks for the report. I can confirm even with simple Bezier curve (beveled + extruded).
I suspect this is rather a limitation or expected output of fill algorithm.

Hi @AdamEarle , I need some more time to understand the nature of the problem. The process of recreating the issue seems a bit complicated. I'll take a look in a bit.
