System Information
Microsoft Windows 11 Home
Version: 10.0.22631 Build 22631
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor
Mainboard: TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX

Blender Version
Problems occur with the following versions: 4.0.2, 3.6, 3.4

Short description of error
Hello everyone, I have a problem with textures when rendering with AMD cards (7900 XTX).

The problem is as follows. As soon as I use objects with textures, they are rendered correctly. After closing and reopening the blender file, the textures are not rendered correctly, although they are displayed correctly in the material preview. Rendering via CPU fixes the problem, as soon as I select the GPU, the AMD card no longer works at all. Every time I open blender, I get different results. I have updated the drivers.

I could be wrong, but it seems related to:
#105526: Textures messed up when rendering with Cycles HIP on AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX

You still see this with latest builds? I'd like a similar report from another user to confirm this, but so far I'm perplexed, as we can't reproduce it.

@BrianSavery ^

We have yet to reproduce the previous ticket.... and certainly doesn't seem to be affecting all users.

Moreover a pink texture is something very different..

I also tried the above tablet file and am seeing similar behavior as above with an AMD 7900 XTX (Driver version 23.12.1).

Enabling/disabling HIP RT doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm seeing the same behavior as well. When I first load up the file, it looks fine; but if I switch between CPU rendering and then go back to GPU, the textures break.

To add to it, here is another file where I'm seeing incorrect textures on my donut material. I haven't included all the necessary textures, but this should illustrate the problem (potentially)

In my renders, the donuts have the same texture as the marble even though they are in no way linked:

Ok. Thanks I'll take a look.

One other data point:

I tried the same donut.blend file on a system that has an NVIDIA GPU and I could not reproduce the issue.

Well this is weird. I can't reproduce on a W7900 or W6800 (Both in HIP, and HIPRT and trying multiple drivers) but I'll find a 7900 XTX to try.

Hello everyone, thank you very much for your support. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person with this problem. I have no problems with the rtx 3070, even the m1 works fine, but as soon as I use the AMD GPU I can't even render the basic cube as soon as I add textures. What is the next step? Does anyone need a 7900 XTX that is 1 month old that I have to sell for 50% to get a 3060? Please excuse me, but I am not able to do anything with blender right now. :-/

#113521 looks related

#113521 (comment) : After disabling the embedded processor in Device Manager, only the CPU and graphics card are options, and everything works again!

Hello. Yes see my comments on that thread. This is an ok workaround if you're able to disable the internal graphics. We're working on a fix on the HIP side, but no ETA yet.
