System Information
Operating system: Windows-11 home 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 528.02

Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.0.2, branch: blender-v4.0-release, commit date: 2023-12-05 07:41, hash: 9be62e85b727
same results on blender 2.93
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
I create a new mesh and set the object -> Viewport Display -> Display as wireframe (so I can see through the geometry).
When I change any value in the add new object popup menu the "display as:" defaults back to textured.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open blender.
  2. Enter shaded mode.
  3. Add a new mesh (any) the new object properties window will popup on the bottom left corner. It may need to be opened to see options.
  4. The new mesh should be selected.
  5. Click on the object properties under the properties tab.
  6. Expand the viewport display tab.
  7. Set the "display as:" option to wire. The new selected object will display as wireframe.
  8. Go back to the new object properties window and change any value.
  9. The "display as:" value will reset back to shaded.
Note: If you use wireframe display mode there is no issue. However I noticed this issue because I wanted to see the shaded object behind the new object so that I could adjust the properties of the new object.

Happens on any blend file on two different machines. My guess is that the add new object is updating the display to shaded by default when ever it is updated.

Iliya Katushenock changed title from Object property>viewport display>display as changes from wireframe to textured when creating a new object and changing any setting in the add new "object" popup to Viewport Display property is reseted back on changing any setting in the new object panel 2023-12-30 19:53:48 +01:00

Thanks for report, i am not able to reproduce this from scratch. Can you check number of undo steps in your blender settings?

Here is a video

I have a super simple work around. I just thought the new object panel should not over ride the display as value.

As i can see, this is not Add New Object operator, this one do replace original object.

Hi, thanks for the report. This is same as #78171

Same explanation is applicable here as well #116244 (comment) :
This is expected behavior because "add operation" is below the "outliner property toggle" in undo-stack: image

Changing value from redo panel will jump to the state before add operation (i.e. reverts outliner property toggle and add uv sphere operation) then redoes the "add uv sphere" operation with newer information (i.e. new segment, ring count, etc.)
