blender4.0 Eevee not working on mac #117823

System Information
Operating system: Mac OS Sonoma 14.3
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB

Blender Version
Broken: 4.0.2
Worked: 3.5

Short description of error
I've been using Blender for years, and never have problems with Eevee.
Until I updated Blender from 3.5 to the latest 4.0.2
When I tried to render with Eevee, Blender froze, and I had to force quit.
Even with viewport shading mode, it froze.
Cycles works fine.
But with a less complicated scene, a default cube, Eevee works again.
I don't understand, it seems like Eevee needs more performance than Cycles?
That doesn't make sense.

In viewport shading mode, it completely froze.
But can render in Eevee for a dozen frames but like 30 seconds into rendering it froze, and after that, the renders are distorted.

This might be the same as issue #113086 which is related to the use of Depth of Field on the camera. Does the problem go away if you remove depth of field on the camera?
