3DConnexion CAD Mouse behaving weirdly in 4.1 #120040

System Information
Operating system: win11
Graphics card: 4090

Blender Version
Broken: 4.1
Worked: 3.6
Likely caused by c0bc49f035

I have a regular 3dconnexion cad mouse. It's not the weird space mouse or any of those advanced mice.
I have the side mouse buttons mapped to undo and redo.
Those mappings used to work perfectly in 3.6 but in 4.1 I get all sorts of weird behavior.

Using screencast keys addon shows differences.

This is 3.6

This is 4.1

The weird thing about 4.1 is that

  • Esc is sent for some reason
  • Then randomly modifier keys Alt Shift or Ctrl get stuck for some weird reason, so I have to hit one of those physically to unstuck them.

Is there a way to disable NDOF commands all together, or revert to old NDOF behavior shown in the first screenshot? I don't care about any of that since I'm just using a plain 3dconnexion cad mouse, it's just like a regular run of the mill mouse.

I also disabled all NDOF commands from my keybindings, and the issue still persists.

It seems it could be connected to this change #116393

The Cadmousepro uses the universal receiver, and is incorrectly mapped as a Spacemouse

I actually just tested not using the universal receiver and connecting the mouse via bluetooth and the problem goes away.

Still would be awesome to be able to use the mouse on the universal receiver.

Thank you for the report and spot.
It appears that this Universal Receiver device is tied to several products. Therefore, we may need to think of a new way to classify the device.
@rolnxyz Just to confirm, is the product ID of your Universal Receiver device 0xC652?

I can confirm the issue.
CadMouse Pro Wireless (3DX-700116). The receiver's PID is C652. Can provide further info if needed.

Normally I use it with a cord, and the side buttons are set to "mouse forward" and "mouse back" in the driver. And then directly bound to the desired actions in Blender's keymap. With that setup everything still works without interruptions in the new version.

The issues only happen if both are true:

  • Mouse is connected via wireless receiver
  • Side buttons are bound to a key combination in the driver
