System Information
Operating system: Windows 11 Home OS
Graphics card: AMD A8-6410 APU with Radeon R5 Graphics
Blender Version
Broken: 4.2
Worked: Never worked
Short description of error
When i click the Shading Tab, the app closes after 3 seconds with no error message
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open blender, click shading, crash
I've linked the crash report here
we see this with many AMD cards, but version 4.2.1 also crashes, which means the developers will most likely only advise updating the card, but will not change the new blender core
This one is crashed in
GPU_shader_get_ssbo_binding
.Please provide the full console output.
This looks like some shader compilation error.
updated drivers from the official website for my AMD Rizen, 4.2 worked fine, but I haven't tested everything yet, when switching to the materials mode, the blender freezes a little
I think this would be the same as #126025 where the user reported that updated driver make it work.
Hello, Despite the drivers being updated using the download on the AMD website, the software still crashes.
This is all the console output says after the Shading tab has been opened
Although issue #126052 has been closed, I thought referencing it in this issue may provide some useful information. Notably my screen capture in my post-closing comment, since toggling between shader viewports appears to be an issue across operating systems in some capacity.
For convenience, I will attach said screen capture here, noting error notification in the upper-left. A new "default cube" file was used.
Although I have solved the problem myself, I know that many users of old AMD cards, integrated and non-integrated AMD cards have encountered this problem and are very upset about it. Therefore, I think the developers should solve it. At least in version 4.3
The issue is that the error message is quite cryptic and there is no mention on the net of what this mean. And it upgrading the driver fixes the issue it is clearly a driver bug.
I'll see if we have the hardware to reproduce laying around. Otherwise it is not possible to fix with such little information.
Indeed the error notification is a bit cryptic, if not obfuscate, why the shadow buffer is full. And unlike some Unreal game engine errors notices, that Blender error message happens in a blink of eye too.
Anyways If it helps: The hardware I use is Apple Silicon M2 Pro, macOS Sonoma 14.5.
