The 2D animation file defaults to the EEVEE render engine, which has been crashing on AMD GPUs with old drivers.

Please try updating your GPU drivers and letting us know if it helps. https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

i mean after downloading the option and going through the process of updating my GPU, I went back to the program and clicked on 2D Animation and I still couldn't enter.

Can you share the crash log? https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/troubleshooting/crash.html#crash-log
And can you share the a system info file generated by Blender. This can be done by:

  • Opening Blender
  • Selecting from the top of Blender Help -> Save System Information
  • Save the file somewhere then upload it here.

I will change the status back to Needs triage to enourage other triagers to take a look at this. But I suspect this is a driver bug and is probably the same as #126040 (I couldn't easily find other reports like this, even though I know we've gotten many)

Hi, crash logs are still missing. Could you add them as Alaska requested in last message :)
Re drivers, they are possibly outdated, are you using oem drivers? You can update gpu drivers from AMD Radeon software or AMD website: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

Use "drop files or..." located below the comment box to upload files

I'm using Graphic drivers.

Of course, you are :)
I was just curious to know whether installed GPU drivers are provided by laptop manufacturer or by AMD on website.

I think this is it

I think this is it

Drivers for this system seem to be legacy, so not sure if they will be updated. The GPU is quite old. Can you try if this works when you set Preferences > System > Display Graphics > Backend to Vulkan?
Also check if this happens with alpha build from https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

okay, my apologies, for the wait but I don't have Vulkan, but I was able to download the alpha version of blender.

The option may be only available in 4.3 and higher versions, not sure if the option would be still available when Blender is released, but I think it will.

I could be wrong here, but looking at the system information files provided, it doesn't seem like you updated your GPU drivers. Your original report says you're using 26.20.11016.1 and your system info files from later open also say you're using 26.20.11016.1.

But according to AMD, you might be able to upgrade to 27.20.20912.1002

My guess is you go to the page I linked above (this one).

On that page you you find the section The AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.6.1 for Legacy AMD Radeon Graphics installation package can be downloaded from the following links: with a link to download the installer. Download it and run it and go through each step of the installer.

But I could be getting things wrong and this driver might not work with your computer.
And as always, updating drivers comes with a risk.

your right, I followed the steps to download the driver, and it did not work at all, whenever I tried to open the driver, it just kept showing a pop up that says it only runs Microsoft verified apps

My guess is that you're might be using Windows 10S which puts restrictions on what you can and can not install. If you are on Windows 10S, you can switch to normal Windows 10 at a upgrade fee, but I wouldn't recommend it. Paying money just to install a driver in hope it fixes a issue (when it likely won't) is just a bad idea when you could save that money to buy a newer computer that is much more likely to work and will be faster.
