Short description of error
I just tried the new daily build of Blender (blender-2 81-9609840b5ea1-linux-glibc217-x86_64) on Linux but it crashed just trying to open a file in Linux. See animation below.crash_on_file_open_blender-2.81-9609840b5ea1-linux-glibc217-x86_64.mkv
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Please update your device drivers. if that didn't help you can reopen a new task.
It saves time for everyone, just to search for existing bugs :-)
Thanks, Looks like another ticket has been re-opened by Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) "We can't assume our user are running the very latest drivers on Linux. Running Blender on common Linux distributions should not require installing custom drivers to be able to open files."
https://developer.blender.org/T69461
From my experience PPA's may cause more issues then fix due to the fact that they are not coming directly from Canonical / Ubuntu and haven't been "fully" tested. I try and stick to keeping the OS as close to a stable release as possible since that is what most users use.
I received several software updates from Ubuntu / Canonical updating Mesa and can now open blend files. I used version
blender-2.81-52bdf522afcd-linux-glibc217-x86_64. Note: I did not install the custom Mesa drivers from the PPA
The Mesa version does still report 19.0.8
