Short description of error
The viewport of blender 2.82 and 2.83 has worser AA quality compared with blender 2.81a.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open blender 2.81a with the factory settings. Hit 0 on the num-pad to jump into the camera. Use the scrollwheel to zoom into the camera-view. Look at the cubes outlines.

Open blender 2.82 or 2.83 latest build with the factory settings. Hit 0 on the num-pad to jump into the camera. Use the scrollwheel to zoom into the camera-view. Look at the cubes outlines.

As you see on the images, the outline in blender 2.82and 2.83 are much more jagged.

Although I should mention that we might have some loss in quality in the end as the new method is much faster. What is left to improve is the diagonal edges (as seen on the bottom and top line in the screenshot).

Ok so I spent the afternoon on this. There is no easy way to fix this efficiently. I've improved the situation slightly but not by much. (335930ab4e)

I think it will stay like this for the 2.82 release. I would need more time to improve this.

@fclem et al, any news on this? Still present in the 3.0.0 Alpha. Xray mode seems to be antialiased perfectly, so this is indeed only isolated to the overlay (is xray not part of the overlay then?)
