System Information
Operating system: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS x86_64
Graphics card: VIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile, Intel UHD Graphics 630

Blender Version
Broken: v2.83.0 (from https://snapcraft.io/blender, e.g. the Steam version is not affected)
Worked: v2.83.0 from Steam; I'm also sure there was a v2.82.x from the snapstore but I think it was replaced

Short description of error
On Ubuntu/Linux when installing/updating blender through the built-in snap store, the latest version doesn't accept any command line arguments anymore (e.g. --background). It used to work before (2.82) and it still does with the Steam install of v.2.83.0. It seems something in the "snap" package broke.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Install blender via the snapstore. E.g. through the command-line snap install blender --classic. (If already installed you can verify with snap info blender if was automatically upgraded to the latest. The last line printed should be installed: 2.83.0)

  2. start blender in background mode via the command line blender --background. Notice the it opens regularly since the argument is ignored. Any other arguments like python related are as well.

Optionally:

  1. Install blender via Steam for Linux

  2. Run the that install and notice the arguments work. Default path should be: $HOME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Blender/blender --background
