Pink Materials and Freestyle in Eevee #77588

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620

Blender Version
Broken: 2.90 and also in 2.83
Worked: 2.80

When using Eevee all the materials and the sky will turn pink after a couple renders and will stay pink. If I go back to the 3D scene and manipulate the cube in some way (even just grabbing and cancelling the grab) the problem will be fixed for that one next render. Hitting the render button again though after that will break it.

I know the pink usually means the material is missing a texture but I am even talking about the default cube breaking. The only way to truly stop this from happening is to uncheck Use Nodes on the sky and the materials.

Unfortunately though this glitch extends to Freestyle. There is no Use Nodes that I can uncheck there (at least not that I'm aware of). If I render an animation with Freestyle some of the frames will have gray lines but the majority of the time the frames will render with pink lines (even on the same animation the lines will change colors). However if I switch the Render engine to Cycles the lines will be black and will not be pink again unless I go back to Eevee. That means Eevee messes something up.

I really would like a fix to this as I use Freestyle a lot and it is annoying trying to render an animation when the lines will suddenly start turning pink. This is my first bug report so please let me know if there is anything missing.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Load Default Cube
Make sure it is Eevee
Hit the Render Button
Wait awhile then hit Render button again
It should be pink

In case you cannot reproduce this here is a video of me doing it with the default cube:

Here is with Freestyle working:

And with nothing at all changed since the last render there is this monstrosity:
PinkOutline.png

Edit:
This glitch has something to do with the material preview. In the preview window of the materials the background will show up either normally or pink. If it is pink it means that the render will also be pink otherwise it will be normal. Here is a snapshot to show what I mean:

This is what material is supposed to look like. It rarely shows up like this. In the default cube example it starts off like this but after a couple of seconds will turn pink (which is why rendering twice made it look broken):
NormalMaterial.png

Without changing a thing the background will be broken and the Render will be pink:
BrokenMaterial.png

Here are the text files from running blender_debug-gpu.cmd
It includes a render (where the cube is pink), enabling freestyle, and another render (which turned the sky pink)

I can't reproduce the problem.
Cna you try to run blender_debug-gpu.cmd that is included in the download.
Try to replicate the problem there.
After Blender closes, the logs will be in a text file which can be attached here.

the debug log showed nothing out of the expected.
So it’s difficult to know what’s going on.

Please try with File → Defaults → Load Factory Settings to see if you still can reproduce this issue.
Also, have you tried upgrading GPU drivers? See https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html

I just reset Blender to its defaults and updated my drivers but still the objects are pink and freestyle won't render the correct color.

Do you know if this problem is also seen in older versions of blender? v2.80 and v2.82

I have just tested in 2.80 and it works. There is no pink or gray freestyle and all the materials are rendering as they should. It appears this is only in issue in the newer Blenders.
