Crash/unresponsive on attempting to select image texture while Blender is full-screened #78892

System Information
Operating system: Darwin-19.4.0-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Intel Iris Pro OpenGL Engine Intel Inc. 4.1 INTEL-14.5.22
Device: MacBook Pro (late 2013) 15-inch

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.90.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2020-07-12 09:05, hash: f319eec881
Worked: 2.90.0 (explained below)

Short description of error
In either the node editor or the properties panel, attempting to select and import an image texture results in Blender going unresponsive and the screen turning totally black once either the "Open Image" OR "Cancel" buttons are clicked. Blender does not quit, and must then be force quit and reopened to regain normal functionality.

The image texture opens and functions properly in the file once Blender has been force quit and re-opened.

The bug ONLY seems to occur when Blender is in Full-Screen mode

The file attached was created in Blender 2.83.2, if that's useful, however the bug occurs in 2.83.1, 2.83.2, and 2.90 alpha.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open the attached .blend file.
  2. Make sure Blender window is full-screened (everything works fine when it's not)
  3. In the shader editor, click "open" inside the Image Texture node.
  4. Click either "Open" or "Cancel" -- doesn't matter which. It also doesn't matter whether you've actually selected an image you want to import or not.

I've attached a screencapture of exactly what's described above. Following this has led me to a 100% crash rate on my computer.

I realize this is probably pretty specific to my hardware, since it would have been discovered by way more people otherwise.

Thank you! Blender is easily the best piece of software I've ever used, and it blows my mind at how much it still gets better with every update.

It must be related to the same problem described in #77900

This #78892 and #80122 #79057 it's all the same as #77900.

[D8708](https://archive.blender.org/developer/D8708) will fix it.

Oh, good to see there is a patch with the fix!
Thanks for the info and for the patch.
I'll merge the reports
