Short description of error
'Reverse Frames' is reversing the source input and not the strip.
{F9358967, size=full}
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Download this file with a counter video included:
Reverse_Frames_bug.blend
Notice that the video is counting up from zero to 4 sec.
Split the movie strip at 2 sec.
Select left side.
Check Reverse Frames for the left side strip.
It is now counting down from 4 sec to 2 sec.
It should count from 2 sec to zero sec.
So, currently this is not a Strip setting, but a Source setting. Question is if this should be moved into the Source panel or be properly implemented as a strip setting?
Btw. the function
Strobe
, which is repeating frames, but keeping sync, has the wrong name: https://www.thefreedictionary.com/strobeWhen doing this process on celluloid-film-stock the this process is called "Step Printing": https://www.reddit.com/r/cinematography/comments/38dxn1/step_printing/

This is how this feature was designed. I want to change it once all logic is at one place (so #77580 would be done)
Setting known issue for now.
@iss As mentioned, a simple fix would be to move it into the Source panel for now.
Any thoughts on the naming of
Strobe
?It is very unintuitive and impractical the way it is now. I have no thought anout strobe really.

Figured this would have been reported already... until it is fixed, the function should probably come with a warning about the way in which it is broken, instead of just leaving users to puzzle over why an (already known) problem is occurring :/
Changed status from 'Confirmed' to: 'Archived'
As I do not have anymore time or motivation for a continued investment in the Blender project, I'm giving up on this report for now.

Sorry to hear (thx again reporting). In my opinion we should not sweep this under the carpet (esp. since this already been confirmed), there is still a chance to get this fixed in the future and others might be affected by this issue as well.
