System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.7.0-2-amd64-x86_64-with-debian-bullseye-sid 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 450.80.02

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.92.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2020-12-02 23:16, hash: dc4feed59d
(The bug also occurs in 2.90 from Debian Bullseye)

Short description of error
There is a sync issue when using the speed control effect on a video clip as well as the pitch setting in an audio clip in the video sequencer. If you configure the speed control and the audio pitch to be anything but 1 and then start playing the video in the VSE from anywhere but the beginning, the audio will not be in sync at all with the video.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

  • Add a movie clip.
  • Add speed control to the video part.
  • Configure the speed control as follows:
    • Uncheck "Stretch to input strip length".
    • Check "Use as speed".
    • Set speed factor to 3.
    • Set multiply speed to 1.
  • Configure the audio that was added as part of your movie clip as follows:
    • Change pitch to 3.
  • Start playing the movie from anywhere but the beginning.
  • The audio is now way out of sync with the video.

This is issue for long time unfortunately, it's not very easy to resolve this as it is much more complex problem see #59540.

It is planed to be worked on after #77580 is done, which is in progress currently.
