Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-03-15 19:47, hash:
be51d671b5
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
After allowing negative frames, I can't set the Start frame to be negative. So, playback doesn't occur during negative frames.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Confirmed'
I can confirm this on the latest 3.0.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-04-26 05:52, hash:
c63142ca8f
.In
rna_Scene_start_frame_set
the frame is clamped betweenMINFRAME
(0) andMAXFRAME
(1048574). The comment says/* MINFRAME not MINAFRAME, since some output formats can't taken negative frames */
whereMINAFRAME
is -1048574. Would be good to know what output formats are meant and if this can be avoided.Added subscriber: @lichtwerk
Changed status from 'Confirmed' to: 'Archived'
This has come up before, see #81534 ("Allow negative frames" does not allow entering negative start-/end frame) and #81286 (Negative frames not being played in current project).
Please read those reports for more information.
The formats are some video formats that ffmpeg supports (would have to dig up the details though).
So this clamping is only affecting the rendering start/end, you can use negative frames with the
Preview Range
option. So while not the cleanest workflow in the world, it is not considered a bug.
Will archive (but feel free to comment again if issues persist - or if this is a misunderstanding)
