System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: RTX 2070
Blender Version
Broken: 2.93 beta , 2.93.0 en 2.93.1 LTS
Worked: 2.93 alpha
Short description of error
When I combine the shrink-wrap with geometry nodes point instance, I get a spike in memorie consumption.
The heavier the instance gemotrie, the worse it gets.
I use a similar setup for grass patches... that's how I discovered this. With a heavy scene the spiking is so bad it uses al the memorie within 10-20 seconds essentialy freesing up and lagging the whole machine. (64Gb ram installed).
Funny enough this problem didn't exist in the 2.93 alpha version, the version I'm still using because of this bad spiking.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I attached a demo file and a small video comparing 2.93 alpha(no prolems) against 2.93.1 LTS(bad memorie spike also comsuming a lot of time to process.)

Not sure, but this could be a duplicate of #89163
It looks like the same problem indeed. I think my test is more simplified at targeting the problem.

Also, it seems the same behavior is happening with the displace modifier before GN.

Think this was fixed in

.Feel free to reopen the task if it's not fixed.
I dont know how to open, but in the daily build i get this.(see image). How to reopen?
Its the test file attached with first post.

Oh damn, that's my fault! I contacted @Jeroen-Bakker to fix this in the release branch.
Note that right now, the bug from this task is only fixed in master/3.0, not in 2.93.
This problem is still not fixed in the latest 2.93 LST.
I'm still using the early 2.93 beta in production to avoid this problem.
It seems to be fixed in version 3... but that version is to early for me in production.
Anybody? :)
