Marking objects as assets makes the top bar disappear #89587

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce RTX 2060/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 456.71

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-06-30 23:03, hash: 5a64c687dd

Short description of error

The top bar (containing "file, edit, render" etc and the workspaces presets) disappears when marking an object as an asset in the outliner

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open Blender in fullscreen (as in covering the whole screen, not with "Window > Toggle Window Fullscreen")
  • Add any object to the scene (the bug worked with meshes, curves, cameras, etc)
  • In the outliner, right-click the object > ID Data > Mark Asset

The bug only works when in fullscreen, not when the window size is smaller. This can be quickly fixed by moving the window around or disabling fullscreen (when enabled again the top bar is there again)

{F10208187, size=full}

Thank you! The asset browser is a very nice new feature!

Can not reproduce on Windows (blender version: 3.0.0, hash: 016a2707f5)

Check if upgrading to recent build helps or not (https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/)

When reporting the bug yesterday I downloaded the latest alpha build to check. Maybe I accidentally reported it using an older version, but the bug still happened using the latest build.

If no one else is able to replicate I'll consider this a problem from my side. If this can help, I use a desktop computer with 2 screens

For some reason I can't reproduce the bug now. Must have been a one time error I guess. Sorry if it wasted anyone's time

I'm able to reproduce the bug. However it doesn't happen all the time.

I have one screen at a resolution of 1920x1080.

I don't think this is the same issue as #79559. Most likely this is caused by the preview rendering in background for which we have to do some tweaks that may affect other editors (because the drawing code isn't entirely threadsafe yet). For this we already have a task #83896 (Avoid graphical glitches during threaded preview generation), but I would like to keep this open on the asset browser workboard.

I can reproduce it on Linux as well, not every time though.

Also, a issue to note here: font size suddenly increases when marking as asset.

(not sure if a separate report required for this issue)

Did you test with latest alpha build? If that is the case such case please create new report.
