FBX files that can be imported in 2.93 fail to import in 3.0 #94138

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 472.47

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-12-02 18:35, hash: f1cca30557
Worked: 2.93 (Also works in 3.1 alpha daily build [2021-12-16] )

Short description of error
Some FBX files fail to import in Blender 3.0. I get an error similar to the attached image. The same files import fine in 2.93.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Download the attached zip file and try to import some of the included FBX files in blender 3.0. You can also try them in 2.93
(EDIT: it seems to have something to do with UV maps. In 2.93 when you try to create more than 8 uv mpas, blender shows a warning where as in 3.0 there is a popup error message. Maybe that breaks the import process.)

Hi, thanks for the report This is resolved in master and will be backported to corrective release: 7c4fc5b58d

No need to keep a separate report open so I will merge your report in blender/blender-addons#93541 (Blender 3.0 cannot import FBX (containing more than 8 UV layers))

Thanks for letting me know. Any idea if there will be "hot fix" for this? (Blender 3.0.1 or something)? Or will we have to wait until 3.1 for a stable release that fixes this?

So yes, fix will be there in 3.0.1
