Eevee render alpha inverted when performance-high_quality_normals is off #95586

System Information
Operating system: windows 10 pro
Graphics card: AMD HD8950 (driver version : 20.10.35.02)

Blender Version
Broken: (Steam Version: 3.0/2.97/2.8/)
Worked: (2.79 and before.(no eevee version)

Short description of error
When eevee performance high_quality_normals is off, realtime render and render result seems weird. it's like alpha is inverted and sametime the light not works either.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open blender and create a file, make sure high_quality_normals in eevee rendering settings is off. then switch to eevee render

@Jeroen-Bakker @fclem This is another case where the use_hq_normals_workaround = true workaround needs to be used. It popped up last week for a Radeon R6 (gcn2) as well (#95324). This gcn1 card, as well as an older one I have (firepro w2100), is similarly affected.

Yes agree! Both should be supported. And the HQ normals should be enabled automatically.

For people who suffer from this bug: Open a new blender file -> enable HQ in Performance settings -> File-Defaults-Save Startup File. Now a new blender file enable HQ automatically.
