Description of Bug
Crashes when trying to switch to Material Preview. Ref: Bug #95143
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Any version of Blender with Mac OS 12.3.1, change from Rendered Display > Material Preview, it will crash every time using Eevee & Cycles. Attached is the working .blend file for reference We Sink Together-v1.blend

If I'm not mistaken, macOS-12.3.1 is still beta and not officially updated, right?
Maybe this is a driver issue, which will be fixed in the next versions.
I updated my Mac to version 12.2. It reports being up to date. But I can't replicate the problem.
12.3.1 was officially released on the 31st of March. Still seems to be crashing everytime
Okay, as I'm not with version 12.3.1, I can't reproduce the bug yet.
But to move the report forward, a few things need to be edited.

Bug T95143 was reported for 3.1 version still exists after OS Updateto Crash on Mac version 12.3.1 when setting 'Material Preview' modeNote that if it happens with Eevee, this problem has nothing to do with #95143 (Two Different M1 Mac minis BOTH Crash Whenever using Cycles In 3.1 Alpha).
#95143 refers to an issue specific to Cycles with Metal.
Different issues need to be addressed to different departments. In this case the #eevee_viewport seems to be the right one.
In this case, as it is apparently not related to the same problem described in #95143. I need to replicate to better understand the details before forwarding to developers.

When I click Material Preview, the viewport turns grey (screenshot) then I'll get a loading cursor, then it will crash.
